yeah, considering it's a 2000 and the 2003's are right around the corner, i would get a lower price. on kbb.com, the TL you want is worth $25,135, so basically, youre only getting $2000 for your trade in. is you car worth that much or more?
i hope you didnt initially tell him that you were trading in a car...you NEVER EVER tell the dealer that youre trading in a car UNTIL he gives you a price on the car you want. then, you tell him about a trade in...that way, you'll know the exact amount that your car is worth.

Flat valve cover? Are you talking about one on top of the engine cover? If yes, all TL's have that!!

shop around a bit more, i've seen them go for cheaper than that, i would think for 2000 with 33k miles on it, it'd be in the low 20s out the door without trade in.
28k sale price is a bit steep for 2000 33k miles..
unless your a compulsive buyer like me, ...you should look around or bargain with him

i understand what you all are saying!!! the blue book is 25+ im getting it for a lil over 22 as of now! 7500 for my trade and i still owe 12 so when it all adds up i think im not getting the best deal with the trade but under the circumstances i have a fairly good deal. In the dc area. with a trade that you owe on you never come out on top unless you have a big down payment and a car with high resale.

Most of us paid about $30k for our 2000 TLs w/Navi- If a model with 33k miles goes for $23,000 then I guess our toys are holding their value pretty well.
Sounds steep to me for a car which is essentially 3 yrs old. Get an '03 w/navi and enjoy the new features.

I bought a 2000TL with Navi and 31K miles for $17,750 from a couple moving cross country.(They were also selling a Mercedes and Lexus) He had it advertised for 2 months starting at $22,995. Guess lots of people here in Chicago need the dealer for financing. I ran a Car Fax on it and it was clean, and had all required service at the dealer. I love the car:p
Keep looking if you can, you may find a great deal!!!

mr luv,
that's way too high for a 2000 TL. Navi or not. Look around, on cars.com and autotrader.com.
Also, dealer prices are set way too high to begin with. You can usually easily bargain down 3-4k below kbb value.. if not more..

I don't know where you are located, but I picked up my 2000 TL-P w/ 40k miles for 21k OTD and I am in the California, prices out here are usually higher.

Wow i posted this months ago...but as i said before im trading in a tubb of a car with terrible resale value... unless i have 3-5k down or a preapproved loan walking into the dealer im going to get jerked every wich way but loose....I have patiance so im going to pay down as much as possible on the mitsu and save the largest DP as possible and go for a 03 Type-S ABP or or or a well bargained and negotiated 04 if its possible......
