2000 Nav System Diagnostics

After finding out how to get into the diagnostics screens I'm a bit lost with some of the details. One is the Yaw Rate screen. Another is the Tire Calibrate screen. Under the Monitor Check screen there is a Switch Check that includes a screen full of square buttons. There are several other screens that are confusing to me. Anyone have any idea as to where I can get the details on interpreting all this stuff and using it to tune my system?
Any direction would be appreciated

Several interesting things...just one...in the yaw rate screen the voltages should be between 1.500 and 3.500V when vehicle is stopped. If sensor voltage is higher than offset voltage, the car should be turning right...lower, left. If vehicle is stopped, idling offset and sensor voltages should be within .01V...if not it is recommended to replace the unit.
I didn't find an answer yet to my real concern. My nav system is very sluggish and doesn't keep up with the drive...seems to hang up. My source recommended to check fuse number 6 by the drivers door. Mine is OK. I'll keep looking. Any ideas would be welcome.

It's alittle tricky - I start up the system and get past the first screen of text and when I get to the button screen then I hit and hold 1st the menu, 2nd, the map, and 3rd, the cancel. If you do it in order and then hold all of them, it should come up after 5 seconds.
good luck!

I think that there is an easier way of getting that code.

I haven't tried this but copied it from a forum recently (maybe this one!) so I don't know if it works....worth a try...

1. Turn the ignition to "on".
2. Turn the radio off. (make sure u haven't exhausted ur error tries, if you have, disconnect battery, wait 1 min and then check to see if "code" is displayed on radio)
3. Press and hold buttons 1 and 6 down.
4. While holding those two buttons, press the "power" button on the radio.

The unit will display four numbers and then change to another set of four numbers. THAT IS THE SERIAL NUMBER OFF THE BACK OF THE HEAD UNIT! Just call a local dealer and give them that serial number, they can look it up online and tell you the code in seconds!

My '06 has a 'memory clear' function... can't tell you offhand where it is... under NAV ECU check I think, but I know that not even NAV ECU is on the main menu. Wander around a bit.

At any rate, one you find it, hit the memory clear button. After a few seconds the system will reboot.

This *seemed* to help my Navi system's accuracy. I don't know why, but it's easy enough to try.

Good luck!

Steve

but would that s/n be the same as the one on the back of my navi? or would that s/n be good enough for the dealer to give me the code for my navi?

Not sure about the Navi - You might try looking just outside (drivers side) of the glove box when it is open or inside the trunk looking up on the metal car frame next to the Nav box. Mine has both codes up there. Don't think this is a usual thing but you never know. My Nav code is a 4 digit code.
Good luck.

These diagnostic screens are really for the technician to test and tweak the system...probably best left alone. The tire calibration is best left in the "Auto" mode. Alot of the stuff is very cryptic and might cause you problems if you make any changes.
Sorry I can't be more help here.
