there are many things bad ground wires can cause.
this sounds like a good place to start your inspection
The main battery neg cable is known to get loose from its end connector- located under battery tray
and there are several small braided wire grounds from frame to eng and parts,
there is a main ground to trans too.
All must be clean metal to metal - and tightly fastened
start at the battery looking for crud growth and inside the ends of cables- corrosion runs deep~
the terminal connectors fit tight? are spotless clean inside with wire brush tool or sandpaper till shiny, same for the terminal on battery itself- bare metal to contact
a multimeter can tell you the resistance inside the wire
the car is old enough to merit wires just on age, add high moisture areas, an outgassing battery in its past etc = time for some wires

of course get a battery charging system test - free at most parts stores
Will tell if your efforts have helped- get before and after cleaning or replacement - charge and static voltage readouts
