2000 3.2TL BEATS 2002 Maxima GLE
My friend has a 2002 Maxima GLE with the 3.5 255HP motor, which all Max's have, with an auto. Long story short, he thinks his car is faster, i agree it is but ONLY from a roll-on at highway speeds. So i tell him i will race him from a STANDSTILL b/c that would give me a better chance and more suitable for my car, keeps me outta overdrive. So we decide to line them up from a standstill. He brings a mutual friend of ours, also a damn nissan fan, along to ride with him to witness the races. I figure the more weight in his car the better for me 
Now to the races. First race, i turn TCS OFF, put car n 1st gear (manually changing gears myself), and brake torque. Light turns green, i spin a little but immediately put a car length on him and pulling, we began to approach other cars so i slow since he has no chance of coming back. We pull over and he says he didn't brake torque, just stomps the gas, i figure cool, no problem we can do it again, but hell i can't drive the car for u. So this time we go to a deserted rd and line up. This time i forget to turn the TCS OFF and so does he., but i'm still shifting it manually. Since there is no light to start us, the friend in the car with him says go. I brake torque once again and so does he this time. this time i spin a little at the start again, by second gear i have a car length on him, then in 3rd gear another 1/2 car length or so and pullin, and we shut it down at 110 which is way fast enuff, plus i go into overdrive from there, and we were only suppose to race a 1/4 anyway. Needless to say when we pull over they BOTH are speechless and in shock, but for the most part with NO EXCUSES. so he decides it might be better if we go from a slow roll, at about 20mph or so. So we roll from 20mph, and again i'm shiftin manually so the car is already n first gear, don't wanna have to wait for a downshift. Our friend says GO again, and i jump out about a half car length or so, and i again hold that all the way to 110, when i shift into 4th (overdrive) and he go's by, so i shut it down then. Needless to say i was more than happy with the outcome, seeing that i have a TL-P (regular TL NOT Type-S). And if there are non believers, i may have the driver of the Max or his passenger post on here to verify.

Have your friend go get his car checked out. There is something wrong with it. No TL will hang with a 255hp Maxima. The TYPE-S has a hard enough time.
The auto Maximas 2k2s run 14.7-15.2 normally.

whatever the case maybe, that's what happened. Like i said, i can have him post here to verify if u want. I thought i would be the one behind, but that wasn't the case.

actual mine is green with just tinted windows. I haven't had any rims in over a year and a half. Actually i have personalized tags, so u would know if it was me
So i don't think that was me on Olentangy. Nah, she didn't buy it, she bought a salvaged honda accord instead. Nothings been up really, just workin and riding my motorcycle whenever it's not raining. How about yourself?

My bad I thought it was you because it had the same rims you used to have. I am getting rid of my 99 and getting a 02 type s . I just put mine in the autotrader. If you know anyone that wants a tl im asking 20K 44k miles oem kit,tint,sidemarkers,wood knob.

My question is this. How do you keep your car in 1st gear at a rolling 20mph? Mine and probably everyone elses switches automaically to 2nd even when in SS or manual gate shifting. The only way not to have it switch is to constantly accelerate in 1st.

probably just your car, because when i leave it in 1st and gate shift, i doesn't shift unless I CHANGE IT TO 2nd, then again, maybe it's just my car.

No, when I gate shift in my TL-S, it doesn't upshift automatically like it does in sportshift. Do you have a 99 TL Frogger? Maybe they're different?

both cars are great imo but everyone but the big question is why the big difference in the result of the race thats all especially to a TL-P
I personally know that it really isn't that hard to talk a TL-P off the line or not.....i belive the story both sides have posted but

I don't like the Maxima myself, but the engine, and the new steering wheel is awesome. And I will admit that the G35 is a serious car.
But they really seem to hate Acura, why?

the final piece come to the G35...a 5 spd auto...finally...
which can compete with the TL for now...
as u can see...the TL gain half a sec advantage from 0-60 for switching from a 4spd to a much more advanced 5spd with GM technology...
so now nissan is in the real competition

I have and 02 TL-P with only a K&N Filtercharger, and I recently kept up neck and neck with a modified V8 01/02 Mustang for about half a block. I know that he would have killed me eventually if the next light hadn't stopped us, but our cars are a helluva lot faster than most people realize. I know the guy in the Mustang was surprised.
