Post 20 on a/c display

My car wouldn't show 20 on the a/c display while I was getting it service but on last Sat it did it while I was riding and I was able to get by the service dept while it was doing it. They had no idea why it was doing it, but at least they have a record of it if something happens later where it happens alot. One thing I did when I left was moved my radar futher to the left so that it doesn't shade the a/c sensor and it hasn't happend again and the air seems a little colder.

I have been able to duplicate the problem consistantly by putting the temp to 65 with the mode for dash vent and foot vents turned on, and the fan at the lowest setting before auto. The next time I turn on my car, it come on with the temp reading 20, and the AC on with the fan blasting away. When I change the temp, the AC turns off and the fan goes back to normal.

I don't do this all the time, but once in a while, it does. I try not to set it to 65 anymore.

I'll try that, but I think that's the settings I had. Used 60 though.

I've only been able to get it to do that at 65. And when it does go to 20, it almost seems like it is doing it because of a loose sensor or something. When it happened, I go over some bumps and it seems to be intermitant, over smooth roads it is stays that way.

Hey Adam, you must be addicted to this site to try and simulate that problem while it is in the 50's where you live!

Hey Shoofin, we are talking about the ## on the autoclimate. They go from 60-90. If I set mine on 65 (I live in the South) sometimes the #20 will appear in the display and the fan slows speeds. No matter how many
times I press the off button or any button for the matter nothing happens. If I moved the temp knob it will jump back to 65 but soon again 20 comes back. My dealer saw it do it but they don't know why it does it. They told me to come back if it did again which it did lots last week but haven't had the chance to drop it off.

I guess when you say climate knob...you guys dont have the Navigation system. Because we dont have any climate control knobs. Does anyone with the Navi have this problem also?

I called Acura on the 800# in the owners manual to discuss this. He had no idea what I was talking about either. 1st he suggested that I contact my dealer but after I got him to listen he finally understood me to say that I had already tried them but they didn't
know what to do. It's already in the 90's here so functioning a/c is a must. The other day my car did the 20 thing and the a/c wouldn't even come on but as luck would have it by the time I got to the dealer it came back on. That's when I called Acura. The rep took my statement and told me that the manager that services my dealer would call in
2 business days which would have been Friday but as of 5pm Friday no call. I will keep you posted.

I got a call from Acura Customer Rep. the other day and was told that the 20 in the display is a problem and that they will have to replace the climate control panel in my car. I have an appointment with the dealer on Tuesay. I hope they have TL loaners and not the Integras.

Question

hey RickSlick,
What exactly did that rep say? I took my car to the dealer and he said that none of the technicians there knew anything about the "20" problem. I want to get mine fixed but of course he couldnt see it go wrong. Do you have any other info about this?

I spoke with a Rep named Lauren. She was the
Rep that deals with the dealer in my state. I told her that I had taken the car to my dealer b4 and that they didn't know what the problem was. She said for me to make an appt. with the dealer as now there was a fix
to my problem where they would have to replace my a/c control panel. Mine is going in on Tues and I will tell you exactly what they did.

I had the same problem too with my new 2001 TL. I brought the car to the dealer, and as expected, they had no idea, and could not duplicate the problem. They did however, free of charge (under warrenty), replace the unit and I have not had the problem since.

Chaosityz, my car has been fixed. The receipt doesn't really describe what they did
only shows replace climate control unit. If you have a fax# I can fax you a copy if you think it will help you Acura fix your car.

This is an intermitent problem that can show up on 00-01 TLs. The fix is to replace the climate control panel. If your dealer doesn't understand, ask nicely that he call tech line or check the tech line summary on the AIN.
