1st time in race track

a bit disappointed about the result in englishtown, nj. anyway, here's the numbers with intake & exhaust & VSA off:

1st(in D5) 2nd(in SS) 3rd(26psi in front wheels & SS)

R/T... 1.191 1.355 0.980
60... 2.390 2.372 2.358
330... 6.479 6.486 6.494
1/8... 9.781 9.806 9.818
mph... 74.31 73.41 73.83
1000... 12.645 12.693 12.700
1/4... 15.052 15.125 15.128
mph... 93.94 92.92 93.13

how can i do better? btw, what's R/T means?

R/T = Reaction time, how long it took between the time that the light turned green and when your car's front wheel passes the starting line.

stupid question maybe. so, the 1/4 mile time counted after u passed the starting line or right after the light turned green

I dont think your R/T is included in your 1/4 mile time ... Otherwise you would have been alot faster using fully automatic mode versus 26psi+SS which doesnt really make sense...

14.148 with 26psi+SS versus
13.861 with fully automatic ...
I dunno, does that make sense? I'm not an expert on slips though and I've never been to the track, so I could be 100% wrong here.

So to get better 1/4 mile results you deflate the tires?

Lower tire pressure will increase traction on your tires. For the TL-S you only need to reduce the tire pressure on your fronts since thats where any spinning is gonna occur at launch.

yeah, that's what i thought. however, i just don't know why it came out to be the worst 1/4 time that i did on those runs.

How long in between runs?? if your sitting there....raise your hood let the car cool off some.
BTW........ I usually deflate to around 17-19 psi.......but don't forget to put air back in them before you leave to go home......We don't want any ACCIDENTS!!

I hope you know that the hotter the weather the slower your times will be. An engine performs much better and faster in nice cold air like under 60 degrees. But the colder, the better. It also depends on the humidity, altitude, weight of your car (was the spare tire in, do you have a system, rims, etc...). And of course, your R/T. Since this is your first time at the track, your times will suck until you get better at launching it. There are a bunch of TL-S running in the 14s so don't worry. Eventually, you'll get there.

Really those are not bad times for being your 1st time at a track.
15.0 is very respectable for 1st time but............you need to work on your R/T .50 i believe is a perfect light.......my best is .709
but still good job!!!

Go, those are pretty good times. I did a 15.2 best about a month back all stock. go when the weather is cooler and you should be in the 14.9s!

GoTypeS Don't worry about your reaction time. The clock starts when you trip the beam. R/T is usful to guys racing in their own classes and have to leave really close to green to win. If two equal cars are racing usually the guy who can leave first will win, and by 1 or 2 1000ths of a second isn't all that uncommon. Just watch any NHRA pro stock race to see this. There, leaving is everything, after that it is up to the car pretty much. For your best times, leave on green, minimal tire squeal, cool day, cool engine, synth. oil, no spare or anything in trunk, low fuel level, manual shift D1 D2 D3 or just leave it in D3, VSA off. Also Climate control off. That should give you the 14's.
