1999-2003 TL Window Regulators
I've replaced many window regulators due to cable failure at plastic areas of the assembly (and multiple on same door/same car) and have 2 questions:
1) Is there a brand of aftermarket regulator that fails the least? (OEM fails too, so that's not an option here)
2) Since my window shattered when the latest one failed, is there any solution to cushioning or dampening the "free fall" of the window when the regular does fail?
For Item 2, I was thinking maybe a rubber ball in the inside of the bottom door structure. All failures, so far, have been the cable "letting go" near the plastic pulley and cable alignment end-piece.
Thanks...

On RockAuto I purchased a window regulator and motor assembly for the passenger side window. Ultra-Power brand $40 plus tax and shipping. It’s been a year and a half and it’s held up. They also carry the oem brand which would be Aisin.
Can't go wrong with Aisin, but if you don't want to spend that mad cheese, Dorman makes a rock solid regulator.
A rubber pad is a great idea. A corner/edge bumper from packaging material is great if you can get your hands on it. Easier to tape/glue in place than a ball.
