im looking to swap my engine and transmission on my 99 tl i have a blown head gasket and my trans has about 10k miles left on it until it gives in. I found a 2003 engine and transmission with low miles. but im not sure if it will fit perfectly in my car. do any of you have any advice where to get my swap done or atleast a good place to buy engines and transmissions from.

 

How do you know your trans only has 10K miles left on it?

Everything will physically fit but since you are going from the 99 4 spd to a 2003 5 spd you will need to change out some of the wiring as well as the ECU and other things. I would look into doing the 6 speed swap if you're going to go through that much trouble.

 

can i use the same wires and ecu from the other car or would i have to buy new ones you think?

 

No if you are getting your engine/tranny from a junkyard you can grab everything from the other car. I was just saying if you were looking at just the engine and trans you would have to get a bunch of other stuff. If you can find a rear-totaled TL and grab everything you need for pretty cheap then go for it.
