1500 Grit?

I out some touch up paint on my mirror because there was a gash/scratch that was down to the black plastic. I went ahead and got sloppy and put it around the scratch too. So i went back and wetsanded it with 2000 grit and i cant seem to get the extra to come off. Should i use 1500 grit?

I would try some nail polish remover before I sanded my mirror but I am not sure if the 1500 grit would work or not. And I don't know if the nail polish remover would have any effect on the mirror.

i always thought you were supposed to start with the lower grit and move up from there...so go from 1500 to 2000 to 2500. Dont forget to use a lot of water
