Drops your time from 15.2-15.5 (stock) - to 13.7. $3500 for almost 2 full seconds. That's just too sweet!! Add the S/C and who knows what you would run :wow:

The excitement is also coming from the fact that we're starting to get some mods that pack some serious HP and torque and aren't the standard I/H/E combo. Sure, the parts are a little more expensive for our cars... but if you wanna play you gotta pay
Dude - I own a blown Z06, I understand that it cost money to go fast. However, that said, $4,000 is an absurd amount of money to drop on a part that only gains you 1 second in the 1/4 mile. And yes, I ran a 14.9 when mine was stock.

If you want a fast car, go buy one. At this time, its simply not practical to modify the TL. If and when someone comes up with a supercharger kit for about $5K that fits the car, then you can get excited.

I love the way people grip and piss about what it takes to mod the TLS/CLS. No sh!t we can get a faster car but thats not the point here! Some of us actually like what the TL has to offer and want to make it go faster.

I think the 3.5 is an awesome mod and definitely something I'll look into in the future. I'm sure I can find someone to do the install.

Well said.

joecool - I know what you own... I've seen the pics. You are comparing apples to oranges here.

You're on a bulletin board with TL/CL enthusiasts who enjoy modding their TL/CL's. So when a mod becomes available for those cars then yes... some excitement will be generated. I'm sure many of us could buy faster cars if we wanted to.. but for various reasons we chose the CL/TL, so we don't want another fast car... we want a fast CL/TL.....

And the S/C will be out at the end of this month (already out for the 6-speed CL-S) and yes it costs about $5k plus install. All the more reason to be excited about the 3.5L upgrade as it's at least $2k cheaper and produces similar gains.....

You're also missing the big picture. Sure the 3.5L upgrade only improves time 1.5-2 seconds in the 1/4 mile (which is good in itself), but it also increases HP and Torque to the point that it drastically improves our high end pull... something the TL/CL is known for lacking. When you add everything up... it's really not that much money if you're looking for speed.

I'm with you Juniorbean. Owning the Tl isn't purely about speed. If it were, we could do quite a bit with a WRX and a boost controller for a reasonable cost. What we're talking about here is a very streetable mod in a nice comfortable chasis (and I'm pretty sure that the 3.5TL has better mileage than a blown Z06). No matter what I've owned, it's been in my character to get the most out of it from my cars to optimizing my PC's performance.

Some things in life you have more fun with the journey than the destination.

Never saw much more on this.

Too bad it didn't take off. By time I get around to affording it would have been down to a science.

Really nice mod when you think how much people pay for an M3 or AMG to get similar or less performance gains.
