Thumbs up 10K D2S HIDs on 99 TL!!!

You heard it right. I have been hearing that our ballasts can't handle anything pass 6000K for the longest so I decided to test it out for myself. I know a couple of people claiming that they have 8000K or even 10K HIDs on their rides but no pics were ever showned. So I went out and bought myself 10K HIDs from autolamp.

Now before all you guys go and bitch about losing light output, I already know about that.:thefinger To be honest, the light output did not go down as much as I thought. It is much bluer now than the 6000Ks I had on before and it looks great. Don't worry, I still have my 6000Ks just in case if anything goes wrong.

Last but not least, I would like to make a shout-out and a thank you to Mr. from this board. He took time out to install the bulbs for me. Since I bought the D2S (which is for projectors), he had to dremel off a piece to make it fit in the D2R socket. I was going to change my fogs also but the fucking brand new bulbs decided not to work. Anyways, Dan did a great job and I would recommend him to anybody who wants something done to their ride.

Ok, enough talk. Here are some pics:

10K during the daytime

10K at night

6000K at night (same angle as the 10K)

Looks bright, but it almost looks like those cheapo fake HID lights with blue tint.

That is the thing I have been asking just before. I remember ppl saying nothing past 6000k but no one knows where that came from. I've asked a bunch of other ppl, outside the www.acura-tl.com, and they have tested that it is independent of the ballasts.

Are those bulbs shining through the diffusers, or did you take them out?

They are shining through the diffusers. The pictures do it no justice. The lights look awesome in person...

I agree with what Mr. said even though i have not seen them in person. Pics do not tend to give HID any justice u have 2 see them in person. That being said they prob do look really sweet.

Black shadow please keep us posted on the performance of these bulbs...
If they hold up well this will be one of my next mods.

lol Sorry I meant to say as the Kelvin rating (K) goes up the less the actually light (lumes) output there is on the road BUT when looking at it they look more blue and brighter.

I am not sure why they look brighter on the ground then.

When they refer to less output there talking about the usable light which is sent out. Im sure if you send that light out onto black asphault it will not look as bright as on that parking lot concrete. If you people remember those blue bulbs that first came out ......they looked bright as hell when they were comiing at you on another car....but put a set in your car and drive around and you wonder where all the light went. Its like shining a red light on a red piece of paper or using a black light in a black room......its about contrast and light spectrum frequencies.

And we shot him down because we kept saying that he was lying since our ballasts don't support 10000Ks

It is probably hard to describe but I can definitely notice a difference from 4300K to 6000K and to 8000K. I never seen 10000K though.
