Provench, I've been posting to this board for a while, and reading acura-tsx.com and clubtsx.com for quite a while too. I must say you guys are incredible at digging up info on the TL. I used to rely on vtec.net for all that, but looks like acura-tsx.com just picks this stuff up too QUICK! You must be a honda insider Oh, yeah that's justinjsw!

Good work.

I'm coming up to one year of TL-S ownership and I already want this new one. Drooool. I guess I'll stick it out a few more years.

Thanks Lycos! I too and a long time reader of a-tl/a-cl/TOV and have owned 2 GSRs, CL-S, RSX-S, and now a TSX! I love my Honda/Acura stuff.

Oh yeah ... if it wasn't apparent ... the entire crew of members mod staff has joined with soopa on a-tsx.com now. Some bad mistakes by the ClubTSX admins (never around to support their mod staff and members) ... oh well.

Same cool members ... new URL ... kick butt owner (thanks soopa)... acura-tsx.com hopes to break many things in the future and talk about the TSX AWD that we hope comes our way I know the TSX is designed to accept IMA (electric RWD + combustion FWD), but this move with the "HPT" for the TL makes it a bit interesting since (I guess) it is not IMA based, but VTM-4 based. Oh well ... I am just stoked that Acura has entered in to the AWD market !! We don't need no stinkin' RWD

Damn straight. ****e, I'm just so jazzed up about the new TL. Is it true that they're not going to offer a Type S version? Given the aggressive look of the vehicle, I don't thing it really matters, but I just wanted to make sure.

Hmmm, interesting, sorry to hear about that one. Anyway the new look of a-tsx is really great. Love the shot of the tsx on the splash page!

And, I'm a Honda fanatic too. Owned three accords, one civic, an 02 Odyssey--for the wife, and my TL-S. And to think I almost bought a Saab last fall! The guys on this site straightened me out on that one! At 39 I may be the "graybeard" though.

Keep that great TL info comin'.

Don't be surprised if in 2005 or 2006 there's even a TL-S version with 300 or more HP. Remember, the TLS didn't come out right away either. Obviously I'm just speculating but still!

You sure... I'm almost positive that the refreshed 2002 TL and TL-S came out at the same time.

Anyway, I think that you're right... there will probably be a Type-S model not too far down the road. Although if the pricing speculation is right on the TL (I'm reading anywhere from $33k-$36k), the Type-S may be expensive.

The refreshed 2002 TL and the Type S came out at the same time. I think ferizzo is refering to the fact that there was no Type S at the launch of the 2nd generation TL back in 2000.

You mean 1999 for the launch?

And We are still not positive about the fact that there is no Type-S..

Nice trifecta of posts.

I still do not know that we have 100% confirmation on the VTM-4, but if we do, it certainly seems like it will not come in an automatic.

Who knows, maybe VTM-4 will be standard on all models.

I dont get it?

MDX is auto and it has VTM-4?

and TL will sell more AUTO's anyways..

Why would they limit such a great option to a manual?

I was congratulating you on three posts in six minutes. Why not click the edit post key and add?

Anyway, I know the MDX is auto and Acura will sell far more autos than manuals, but the guy (Justin) on the TSX board seems to be leaning towards a leak of manual only on the VTM-4.

But do you know why they would aim it towards Manual?

Do they think racers and stuff will need AWD more?
Do they think performance oriented vehicles need it more or what?

I think it would be aimed towards manuals for the sport-type driving. The EVO and STi are only available in a manual.

AWD improves traction and can provide great launches once you are familiar with the way it operates.

AWD is a practical option and also good for performance. Look at the 911 Turbo... It is an AWD vehicle.

Why do most Infinitis, Lexus', MB's, BIMMERS, and other car manufacturers not have too many AWD Cars?

I think AWD is more expensive to put into cars. Also, think of all the R&D costs. All those companies you mentioned produce RWD cars with larger and larger engines and they boast how much better these cars handle than FWD. I think the new Acura AWD system is an answer to such a claim.

Well I mean it is expensive but not too expensive to put in a GS430 or LS430 or SL500 or something u know?

There is no reason to make the entire product line AWD (except Subaru) because it is a niche market.

MB and BMW both offer AWD/4WD. MB 4-matic and BMW Xi.

Obviously Audi does offer Quattro AWD on all of their vehicles. You can get 4Matic AWD on most Mercedes Benz vehicles as well, but it's a rare option. BMW offers AWD on the 330xi, and the new 5-series will offer AWD. Infiniti is releasing an AWD version of the G35 later this year. Current rumors state that the new Lexus GS and IS will feature AWD at least as an option.

AWD is more expensive as a drivetrain, but additionally it adds significant weight. Of course, when the weight goes up, the power has to go up accordingly to keep the same power/weight ratio and therefore general performance (not handling) characteristics.

Now that 250-300HP is a pretty conservative number for even lower priced performance cars, AWD's weight penalty is more acceptable.

Well stated. I cannot believe I had a brain hiccup on the Audi's.

If Lexus and Infiniti are going to hit the market with AWD, it certainly makes the Acura rumor much more believable.

Thank you for the link, provench! Mayhap the '04 TL will be worth an early upgrade after all. It certainly sounds appealing! I could use AWD here in Ohio!

AWD is really good for Snow and icy/sleek areas right? Or when it rains, Like it gives you more traction and power, sort of like 4X4? Right?

Yeah, I am living on the other board right now. I wish there would be something new.

Even if it is something like memory passenger seat, heated rear seats, anything. Even something as small as power lumbar, anything!

Ya I know, I have been on A-TSX ever since the first post on the rumours..

Man Just wait until the press release, than we will know more info..

The stuff over there is confusing me, One of the guys (Justin) says there will be AWD and another one (Stash) says there will be no AWD..

Another guy said there will be no integrated key, but that sounds stupid, because the new Accord has the new Integrated key, how can a higher Model not have the same or better key..

I hear ya. My wife has an 03 EX-V6 Navi, with the integrated key, fold-down rear seats, central locking and IMHO a nicer interior than my 03 TLS-Navi.

The latest from the TSX board seems to be killing the AWD rumor.

Boo hoo, I was really psyched for AWD-6Spd.

Not killing the rumor, but now its a NO NO For Sure almost..

Because Justin saw a paper and read it, he still might be right, like they might introduce AWD in a later TL, 2005-2006 perhaps
