03 TLS Fog Light Bulb

Hey everyone. I was washing and admiring my car this morning, when I realized that i didn't like the way the foglights and xenon headlights look together. Believe it or not, I only found ONE bulb especially for 03 TLs on Ebay that were "xenon." And i missed the auctioned. I really don't care if it's real or not, i'm not gonna spend a grand on fog light bulbs. Bottom line, i want to know if anyone knows where i could buy "blue" light bulbs. Either online or through a auto parts store. I'd really appreciate it. -Shawn

Do you want it to emit a "blue" light ? Or are you looking for a better match to the headlights. I wanted a better match to the headlights. A cheap way to go is get a pair of 9006 bulbs from midnightmoose.com. Safe way is to get 55w bulbs. I acutually put in the 85W bulbs because a few people here tried it. From what I recall reading, they didn't melt the harness or foglight case. I've had them in for a week now and they don't feel any warmer than the stock ones when I put my hand to the lense. They are a lot brighter and almost match the headlights.

For the 85W bulbs or higher than 55W... You could also change the wiring a little with a wiring harness that draws the power from the battery... protecting the stock harness and wiring.

You might want to try a different color so matching isnt a problem. I did yellow.

Basically, you hook the 9006 bulbs to the battery and throw a fuse and relay inbetween the battery and the bulb. The relay hooks up to your OEM 9006 harness and only needs VERY VERY little current to operate. Once the relay is turned on my the 9006 OEM harness in other words you turn your fogs on.... the relay will close the circuit inbetween the the battery and bulbs.

hey thanks for your reply. Owning an acura, you do notice that the blueness of the headlights are pretty blue....did the 85W match it pretty close? And also one more thing, i want a solution with very little modding of the harness, wiring, and car. So bottom line, you're saying that the 85W lights would be a close match, and strong as the headlights right? thanks a lot. -Shawn

I think that it comes close... others have said brands like Eaglite and Razo 55W versions are the best match. Those you can just swap the bulbs.

Okay, i found the 9006 lights from midnightmoose.com, would that thing fit in my assembly? And this wouldn't require those ballast boxes right? 'preciate it. -shawn

The 9006 bulbs will fit right in. SO will the 85Ws... as long as it is 9006. No ballast required.

For the last time, (sorry) a 9006 will replace a stock fog light config? Just remove the stock white bulb, and insert the 9006 bulb. If that's correct you wouldn't know about the whole 85W melting issue would you? I'd like it to be strong like an 85W....lemme know. Much thanks. -Shawn

BTW, what about the high beams. they are also plain white light. Would anyone know which xenon (no ballast) replacement that would be? Thanks a lot. -Shawn

Ok, the regular bulb (stock) is a 9006 Bulb, so if you buy another 9006 bulb you are good to go. Choose what you will between 55Ws and 85Ws. Some people recommend against 85Ws and some say they have no problems.

The high beams are 9005 bulbs.

Ok, thx for the tip Bxscig !
Shawn, for what it's worth, I remember reading that someone did a comparison from of the eaglite 55w bulbs vs. the 85w bulbs and there wasn't a big difference in the brightness. Of course I read that after I bought the 85w bulbs.

Okay, guys, quick update. I drove for about an hour today with my fogs on....i felt them to see how hot they were...it was too hot to the touch on both sides of my hand. From your own experience, are the fog lights as blue as the headlights? BTW, i'm thinking of getting the 55W. Any thoughts/advice about installation? Thanks a lot. -Shawn

It is definitely too hot to touch. I learned the hard way too. I just went with purple and yellow because matching HIDs with halogen bulbs are hard. You will need a 10mm + ratchet + about a 6" extension to get to the bolt holding it.

Even if the number is the same, they won't look the same. I am not sure what those 55W 9006 bulbs Eaglite are rated at. Sorry.

Do you personally think that if i get the 9006 fogs it'll look stupid or faggy with the headlights? I'm trying to decide.....Yellow wouldn't be bad, but i'm not really a fan. Thanks. -Shawn

I think that anything besides stock will look better lol The stock ones look bad to me but they last. The aftermarket ones, be warned, do burn out more often.... like in a month or 6 months... depending on how often you use them.

Just get Eaglites from www.midnightmoose.com Many people have ordered through them and at the 15.49 price ... you can afford to get a couple.

I have the PIAA Extreme White bulbs in my fogs. They're about as close as you can get to match the headlights.

To be honest shawn, don't waste your time. I've gone through a TON of aftermarket bulbs since April 2001 and I can tell you that NOTHING is better than the OEM bulb. If you want to waste money and learn the hardway, be my guest...but from now on, I'm done with all the 9006 aftermarket crap. If you want to do it right, and only do it once, go full out HID and be done with it.

BTW...here are some pics for you to compare.

Especially with your true DTR lights...those bulbs shouldn't even be considered.

It's too late to beat yourself up now. Just use them for the mean time and when they burn out, don't buy another set.
