03' Lincoln LS V8?

How does the TL stand up against the New LINCOLN LS V8 in terms of performance?

I'm sure you've heard there claim to out preforming a 540i.....HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!!! BUT in reality they probably do have a very specific test that they beat the 540 in. Remember the lexus commercial saying it outpreformed the 330i? ya they were on a muddy mountain road, big deal!
my point is there will be somethings we typeS owners can say are cars do better at. but there are sure to be more things a new ls owner can say to counter a tl.
I like my Tl and would chose it over a LS (for long term investment)even if the price differance were not a issue.

The Lincoln (and the Caddy) should be behind it in the corners and on the straight-aways...
It's the purtiest American car made, though (the Lincoln, folks, not the Caddy!)...

My good friend has an 01 LS V8, and I've smoked him in every little race we've had!! However, the LS has really good handling! I think it is more planted in turns than my TL-S!

Also, the 03 models got a HP bump, so now they are a bit quicker (0-60 in mid 6s). Still a tad slower than the TL-S I believe.

Depreciation, however, is a b-tch on those things too. My friend payed 40K for his, and they were going to give him less that 15K on a trade!!

I thought Lincoln just claimed a higher skidpad rating - like .87 or .89 G's or something... as opposed to the 540i w/a skidpad rating of .84 I thing... still better than the TL-S's skidpad of .79 G's - it's because of the TL's poor balance I think.

If you really think that, find a Lincoln to chase around in some corners...It'll be more balanced than you think...Especially if you slap some 18's and springs and/or sways on your TL-S, you will waste the poor Lincoln and still save $10,000...

Haha yea good point... once we went round a really tight corner in our stock TL-S, the limit was 10mph, and it was that slippery black hardtop stuff... so we went round at over 35 MPH and I think the VSA saved our a$$es because the tires made the loudest squeal I've ever heard. Not bad cornering...

You know I was in a Lincoln Dealer the other day waiting to pick up my friend. On the floor was a nice fully loaded LS, I thought the car looked really nice. Then I saw the sticker of almost 50k - are they smoking crack?

my co-workers got an 02 Ls v-8, he test drove an 03 and really really considered buying it. there's THAT much differance!
The person that thinks are front heavy tl's will out corner the 50 50 balance and rear wheel drive of a LS is "smokin crack".
Are cars are great in many ways but we'll almost always be behind a RWD sports sedan on a DRY mountain road.

OH and BTW Ford now has V-TEC!!!! thats where they got the extra HP in the 03 model

Uh, yeah. Okay...Just 'cuz you have a 50/50 balance and RWD doesn't mean you will outcorner a FWD, nose heavy sedan...

Cars have their quirks...
Anyway, $5k in mods to a TL-S will leave any $50k LS8 Lincoln picking his teeth on the straights OR in any corner...

i actually got to test that thing out because my dad needed to get his 03 navigator serviced and so they gave him a brand new lincoln ls v8 as a rental. Not exactly brand new but only had 300 miles on it. The only thing i have to say about that car is that it is slow as hell! Start off is really really slow but it does show some power at higher rpms. Handling is good but i dont see how it can possibly do the 0-60 that lincoln claims it can do. A TLS can beat it anyday. :p
