02 TL-S, what to do? step-by-step...

Hello,

So, it's almost a month i owned my tl (photos) and weather is allowing to work on it.

So far i have done:

- 2x12" subs with 1200W amp (old sub is disconnected, but i want to connect it later as a middle bass)
- 2DIN Kenwood DDX-6019 headunit (waiting for dash-kit)
- 18" rims with 225x40x18 tires (bad photo)(looks like need to rollover fenders before drop)
- painted front calipers
- blue lights in fog and headlight (don't remember the temperature, but they are white)

What i have to do next:

- paint rear calipers
- tint taillight
- install radio dash kit

With what i need help:

- i need to buy rear tires, any suggestion?
- rotors (have no clue which one)
- coilovers, i want to control them, coz i'm living in Quebec and roads here is a hell. Was thinking about TEIN (basic, ss, ss-p - dunno ) with ss-p you can add module inside of the car to control it, right?
But I have offers for BC coilovers and selexsuspension.com
selexsuspension
1) Hi-Lo Kit
2) Damping Adjustable 28 Positions
3) Rubber Pad top mount for Front and Rear
Not sure what BC exactly is.
- exhaust (not sure which one) was trying to get a quote for atlp from canadian reseller , but without luck
- bodykit. thinking about buying cheap aftermarket first

That what is in my mind.

What else should i think of, like CAI, etc.

I really appreciate your time and help!

tires, post in Tires, Wheels & Suspension subforum..

rotors.. RacingBrake 1piece or 2 piece are what i would get. if not... rotora is good.. there are other brands out there....

coilovers.... you really gonna spend 1.2k on tein ss? with edfc??

depending on what type of ride you want go for it.. and BC as in BuddyClub???

and I don't think there are any ATLP reseller other than aznbo187 himself..

bodykit.. get OEM factory lip kit.

CAI... Headers.. TB/IM spacers... UR pulley... etc etc...

if you can afford Tein SS-Ps with EDFC.. you could probably afford an OEM kit..

or get a replica one and get Basics...

you'll get the both of both worlds.

What i was thinking getting BC or SS(p) with replica and then start changing to OEM.

It hard to find oem ourdays, expt on acuraparts.

and waiting till later will only make it harder....

these kits will become more rare in the future and possible earn a nice buck even for used ones... i would drop the car and kit it before anything else... but please do not get a body kit..

fiberglass is easy to crack..

fitment is not the best but what can you expect with most replicas anyways....

i think im running out of breath saying this... not just to you OP...

if you HAVE THE MONEY people.. the DEALERSHIPPPPP still sells the OEM lip kit... yes it will run $1,000.. but for people saying they are impossible to find.. they are at the DEALER.. just so everyone is clear...

and yes.. OEM is that much better, mainly because of durability.. but fitment is always a plus... not as necessarry for the rear lip because of clearance.. but the front and sides will eventually get messed up if you are lowering.. its a matter of time.. and pretty soon.. those two fiberglass kits you bought could have paid for an OEM that wouldnt break

No they not anymore (in Canada). That what i've asked first with my dealer. since 09 tl released - acura stop making them. Maybe only dealers which have them in stock can sell kit.

I understand what you saying.

SO, all of you think, that it's better to wait with kit and buy OEM?
Ok, if so, who know where to buy for good price, maybe even prepainted?

trust me... they still have them around...

call other dealerships too..

one of my buddies friend that works at acura parts and service said they still have kits floating around at warehouses and some dealerships. most dont even bother to even check if they have it in stock at other places and what nots.
They can check which specific dealer has them in stock in whichever color and then get them shipped to your dealership of your liking and you can go pick it up there...

thats how i got my front lip with a little special discount.

If you don't have the money now, why are you going to spend money on something you're eventually going to get rid of to get what you originally wanted, when you could just save up and get the oem lip kit...? Please don't get anything besides the oem lip kit (unless it's a wingswest rear lip) unless you want people chanting rice, rice, baby.

just drop your ride for now. i need to get that done myself before i buy some volks/works/dpe's (yeah right)...

Thanks! Any ideas where to check/call about the OEM lipkit?
I've checked with two local dealership and both of them told me that those positions are discounted.

For basic, will i be able to make them higher in winter?

yes.. they're basically the same as SS without the included top hats without dampening knobs...

not worth it unless you're gonna play with the dampening to adjust stiffness and softness...

honestly, if its just a DD.. basics are more than enough.

and if you're not gonna run crazy aggressive wheels.. basics are fine..

You dont need coilovers to adjust ride. You can get the same dampening control for much less. Coilovers allow you to adjust height, BUT its not as simple as turning a knob, plus you need/should have an alignment after you adjust the height. A good shock and spring will be fine. Many in your neck of the woods have it and run just fine.

You've broke all my plans!
LOL, what should i do now.

Ok, so the question is should i go with basic or buy shocks and springs?
And YES, i will get the oem :P

Give a shot, what should i buy while getting kit and "dump"
maybe rotors? something, not very expensive.

wells, what ARE your plans for this car?

you want ride height adjustable option?

basics are perfectly fine for what they do..

if you cheaper alternative that perform slightly better than the basic/ss(only adjusts spring height up and down)

http://www.robearracing.com/pd-funct...cord-98-02.cfm

those would be a "better" alternative to the basics.....

if you're gonna go shocks and springs... H&R 50103 and koni shocks..

lol

if your paying 900 bucks for it unpainted.. pay another 400 bucks and get it painted and shipped.. i know the trouble is finding it.. but i wouldnt trust a site selling OEM parts unpainted...

While i'm searching for the kit, i want to drop it.

Does those coilovers better then TEIN Basic?
http://www.robearracing.com/pd-funct...cord-98-02.cfm

I can get basic for 750-800US here.

Any other suggestions?

Are you kidding?
tqla, that question was to jjassha, coz he mention them
those would be a "better" alternative to the basics.....
and i've found a lot of info about tein but those coilovers.

So, jjassha, if i'm blind and don't know how to use search, please point my face in correct topic or url.

maybe i'm really stupid, but i can't find any info about yours.
