I just got my 01 TL like a month ago, and I'm short on cash. One of the easiest and cheapest things to do is to change my tail lights, but I'm not sure where to buy it. Internet, local stores, Acura?

With the majority of the 99-01 TL's with the 02-03 tails on this site, where did you get them from?

The only place with reasonable prices I found were on eBay:

But I don't know if they're the exact same as the ones on the 02-03 TL's. If I get ones from eBay, do u think it'll leak or not fit right?

either one would fit perfectly. but some people on the board prefer matrix racing rather than procarpart. i dunno why

Matrix Racing and Procarparts both sell the exact same thing. The DEPO aftermarket tails. There is no real preference for either, just look to see who is cheaper after adding shipping cost. I personally bought mine from Matrix Racing.

It's exact fit and after nearly 2 yrs, I have no leak in it.

You can buy the OEM 02-03 Tails for $300, call 1(888)RAY-LAKS and talk to Tim, Internet sales manager for Ray Laks Acura in NY.

i bought mine from procarparts.. and it looks great.... so far no leak yet..

Correct me if I'm wrong but with the OEM '02-03 lights on a '99-01, isn't a different harness required as opposed to no harness with the aftermarket lights? Just wanted to make sure b4 I get mine!

i think it depends. i got mine from procarparts and i need a harness. ive got a 00, so... i dont know if it's a weird thing or what. as far as i can tell the harness is needed because the turn signal connector is too small, correct me if im wrong.

if looking at the trunk, the lights are like this:

on the 02/03:
top two bulbs have larger bulb holes (1 and 2), bottom two have smaller (3 and 4)

on my 2000 (all 00/01/99?):
bottom 2 are small (3 and 4), turn signal is small(1) and the reverse light is big(2). you can see it in this pic:

If you buy the OEM 02-03 TL tails, you do need the wiring harness. OEM tails w/ the harness runs for $300 from 1888RAY-LAKS.

If you buy Aftermarket DEPO tails from Matrixracing or Procarparts. They do not require harness. They run around $190 shipped.

If you buy the 99-01 JDM Inspire tails. You do not need the harness. They run well over $300 and not really worth it. They look just like the others, but back before the 02 TL came out, it was the only choice.

just buy the ones on ebay and spend 175 rather 200+ and buying harness to make them function. just $.02
