My friend who has a Type-R with about 10,000 miles, he has Mugen Exhuast, AEM CAI, DC sport header & short shift, Comptech Coil. He wants to race me in my TL with 17,500 miles with K&N filter, custom axle back exhaust, 18x7.5 Axis se7en, and nothing else yet. I already know the outcome, but how bad will he beat in straight away, and any info that you guys can give so I won't lose to him REALLY bad? Also, what kind of mods do I need to beat his Type-R? NOS??? Help!

I hate to break this to you but if he is a good driver then he should sh** all over you, no offense by that comment. Sport Compact car just reciently tested the stock 2000 Type-R and they pulled a 14.5 quarter mile time...and that is stock. So, you said he had mods and from the looks of it he should be running low 14's or so. The GSR alone had a 13 HP upgrade off a AEM CAI only, so the Type-R should be the same.

Sorry, forgotten to tell you guys that he took his car to the track (moroso) and his best run was 15.5 and worst was 16.3 its all depend on reaction. I'm taking my TL to the track also. Hey Shoffin my rim doesn't rub except when during coner on a uneven pavement on the back (I mean really Uneven). Will post some pics later ASAP when the TL is lower with Comptech Spring & Sway Bar (Hurry Snook)!

damn, if he has a 2000 Type-R and the best he could pull out of the car is a 15.5 then that is one sad driver or there is something seriously wrong with his car. Any way, if that is the outcome of his driveing then you should have no problem beating his quarter mile time or beating him in a race. All I have is a SRI and I pulled a 14.9 (hence the name!) at the track. So good hunting and post the outcome...

All I gotta say is "GOOD LUCK". There is no way we can beat a Type R (stock). Our TLs are way too heavy.

There is a way to beat his Type R tho... break his right arm so he can't shift gears. Then you'll win with ease.

...whats psl,fl???i just beat pretty convincingly a typeR in pasco black w/exhaust in my type-S stock everyone says the guy must not been able to dirve but from the sounds of his weed eater i mean fart pipe he was reving in it hard

the top speed of the Type-R stock is about 143 so with the mods I would say close to 150. Also, I meant to mentin this, it proves that the race has more to do witht thedriver then anything else.

My friend Kenny has a 99 GS-R wiht AEM CAI and the Apex N1 exhaust, he raced a 2000 yellow Type-R and pulled like 2 cars on it. I was pretty dam* surprised my self to see that. Just thought that I would let you know that

Tat dont listen to thease guys i already races a 2000 type-r about 2 months ago i got 1/2 a car on him off the light and kept it there he could not pull on me he shut down after about 70 MPH because he was not gaining on me. i raced him 2 times from 2 lights at a dead stop each time. if you get up into the 90 MPH range he may pull on you but the tnteg dosn't have enough torque to get a good launch. i was suprised as hell myself when i pulled this off. my car is totally stock and he had an AEM CAI. later at a party about 2 weeks later i got a chance to talk to him and he thought i had a CL-S and that was what he was telling everyone because he couldent belive it either. dont pay any attention to what magazines say about 1/4 and 0-60 times usually they are all wrong! go to the track for your proof. listen to 14.9 i belive his story andf you said yourself the ITR runs 15.5 at the track. you shouldent have anything to worry about it will be close but i think worst case it would be about a tie. let us know the results.

BTW use SS mode when i raced the ITR i used auto if you shift at 6,500 you will get a little better run and stay in VTEC range if you shift at 6,500 in SS mode.

also remember that there alot of bad drivers out there, more so then good ones at that. By the way, that GS-R that I mentioned my friend has, he has beaten me 3 times now up to 90 mph, I cannot pull him at high end, its pretty agravating.
