$520 to replace headlight bulbs???

And so I have started seeing the imminent infamous pink eye hue on my headlights after a few seconds of turning them on. Went to Acura at Oxmoor (Louisville, KY) to see how much to replace the bulbs and they told me parts would be $165 per bulb, totalling $330 plus tax, and labor would be $100, total invoice $430 plus tax. And he kept insisting that they will have to do a diagnostic because it might not be the lightbulbs, an extra $90 (to total $520). I was furious and told them I do not need any diagnostic, you are not listening to the customer, all I asked for is how much to replace light bulbs not asking if you can tell me what's wrong with my car. And he said $430 plus tax. I left.
Is that right, the $100 labor to put the bulbs on? Would Honda be able to do the job cheaper (not sure if Hondas have HID)? Can I just buy the bulbs cheaper elsewhere and just go to dealer to have them istalled??
Thanks guys.

Did you mean to post 3 nearly identical threads?

dealer NO
DIY yes
Private body shop YES
Kaixen 5000 or 6000k bulbs from vendor Excelerate 150 per pair shipped

The dealer was wanting you to know it may be MORE than just bulbs
Many customers show up with no light, ASSUMING its bulb
If you have pink eye- thats bulb
other things like ballast and ignitors fail due to moisture or age

wise, there's like 5 threads in the problem & fix section where people have asked about the same problem. Just buy it yourself on ebay or whereever. I got mine for 64 on ebay and installed them myself.

If it's the balast, then just go on ebay and buy a used one. You can also get the same HID bulbs on ebay for under 60 shipped. HID is all the same IMO>

Yup. There's aftermarket, no name D2R/D2S HID bulbs sold that performs poorly.

I'm not too sure since I've never had those pair. But I do imagine they are a bit bluer. there's lots of threads around now with help on how to change the bulbs..search for anything that has to do with ballast or bulbs. Mainly, the top posts in these threads..

How can you prove this?

Xenon gas is Xenon gas, a filament is a filament, a plastic base is a plastic base...It's like saying store brand ketchup tastes different than Heinz. I seriously think it's just marketing...

Just search around on the internet like HID planet and other forums for those that have bought cheap no name HIDs. WE have had many members who have bought the cheap ones only to fail a short period of time later. They replaced them with quality ones like named above and never had a issue since

Dude, that's a lot of money. And they also fed you a buncha crap. I hate it when people do that though. It sucks.

I went thru this excercise a little over a year ago... bought some discount bulbs that didn't last (1 bulb gone in 10 months and the other bulb just went out). I went with Phillips this time (off eBay for $95/pr). I found the driver's side a bit easier to put in as there is a little more room. 15 minutes for both.

dude..., do it yourself.
It's pretty easy.
Save you alot of money.
You always can ask us if you need help for it.
And always get it new one.
Because the used, you never know how they handle the bulbs.
EBAY sell it.
THe factory is 4300K (has the most light/lumens)
Go with 5000K or 6000K if you want to look bluer. (but it put out less light).

Ps: always get a pair for the bulbs

I just got some really nice bulbs off ebay for like $55 shiped. They work great and look wonderful. Also I have my stock OSRAM bulbs that I bought from Acura for $90 a peice about 4 months ago and decided I wanted a brighter/bluer look.

I'll sell you my stock OSRAMS that work perfectly for $90 for both.

I can also show you the link to the ebay seller:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HID-B...QQcmdZViewItem

This auction only has 5 hours left but the seller has constant auctions.
