Thumbs up For $3 A Month, The Search Feature Alone Is Worth It! Read On...

the fee and benefits that tim has set up for the members is totally within reason if not more!!! the knowledge base in the search function alone to me is worth the $50.00 i just spent for the premium mvc pkg! that function has saved my ass in the middle of many a mod at 3 o'clock in the morning!!! any of you that can't, or refuse to help support the site because of some stupid principle, or you're just too damn cheap , take a fvckin' hike! the board does'nt need you, or want you! think about how much you pay for a starbucks latte! give one up a day a week...those of us who are serious about our TL's and invest alot of $ in mods , want serious auto info! not b.s about the latest sony playstation game, or a picture of your new x-box ! to shell out the 3 measly dollar$ a month to get the benefits is a no brainer!!! geez, we are talking 10 cents a day!!! even you younger guys can afford a dime a day!? and if you can't , you don't belong in one of these cars! i hope i expressed my opinion in an acceptable and unoffensive manner? please excuse the f-word , but after reading all the b.s on the forums, i was a little pissed at the way tim was getting abused! the vent is over! now let's get back to T LLLLL N' ! kman156

you should have taken the 10 cents and put it toward spelling lessons!

Good post... I hope both your and my sides don't sound too offensive.

I made a post saying that I couldn't justify the search feature being disabled because I am looking at it from a technological stand point, not a 'its 3 am and i need to find...' standpoint.

Rather than re-posting you can view my standpoint here...

I like the way it was, who didnt. Eventhough im a newbie Im still gonna get the upgrade probably premium, one of the reasons is for attachments thats one of the reasons i love this site so much are the great pics of members rides, and the other reason to go premium are the parts discounts that ive been hearing about, who can beat that. And really 50 a year isnt even that bad for the amount of info you get, this place is practiclly like a fraternity. But im gonna wait to upgrade when i get my car on May 18th

Yup, just like the other post where I mentioned it, when it comes time for the next mod (CAI ?) I'll most likely upgrade my account.

Thumbs up That's the Spirit!

there you go! mvc pkg will pay for itself with the savings on parts alone! plus, access to future group buys is sweet, & organized by tim for the benefit of the members on price and quality! I think this upgrade pkg, and site enhancements have improved things around here 1000% already!!! and it will just get better, IMHO... kman156

Either membership is a good deal. For 8 1/2 cents a day, it's a bargain. ($30 year)

How many of you get frustrated when the site is down?

See, what else can you get for 8 cents a day? This will insure that the site stays healthy and is here when we need it most.

Good Job Tim!

That's true but now I can't even see pictures without paying for it over the internet? I don't order parts from Tim or anybody for that matter I just check the board for Meets, Off-Topic, and little stuff to help make my car better and more enjoyable in the First Gen forum. Just because I don't "support" the board doesn't mean I should take a hike IMO I wouldn't participate in group buys ANYWAYS so I can't justify this membership fee, maybe while there was Off-Topic so that at least I could also be free to vent but I can't even do that anymore

Sorry ah rich guy...:o I'm just saying that I don't cover this board with spam and I post in ALL of the forums as well so I just wanted to do so for free...I would be glad to support Tim and his site by doing this but in all honesty i'd rather have pop-ups than a straight fee...

I'm disappointed that the image viewing and search functions aren't free. Images will hopefully come back, but the missing search function is a mystery to me.

I'm still wondering if it's worth $30/year to get back to the same level of access that I used to get before the fees were instated. I'm just not convinced that this site is running lean enough. Why aren't other bandwidth reduction strategies used in addition to the fee? I don't get it.

Anyway, I'm going to look around for a few more days, and I'll decide if I'll ante up the annual fee. Otherwise, I'll just lurk around as a nonpaying member, or just go somewhere else.

I still think we should at least have our Signature's for free cause we took the time & initiative to make them up in the first place, & maybe everything a lil charge for searcing up things or getting on group-buy's, but still, you can always get on deals any where else besides here, if people are smart enough to look elsewhere.....

daverman

I am sorry you feel this way, you are a long time valuable members, and if you leave, you will be truly missed.

I would like to quote what Soundspeend found on the CL site

"I came across a very good point made by a CLer:

"When you think about it, it costs $8 to go and see a movie that lasts 2 hours. I spend at least 6 hours a day on this site 5 days a week. How much would I spend if I went to 3 movies a day?

Anyways, it's cheap entertainment. And it's good to learn and have some friends with something in common."

I have to agree with this."

I think that is very true. There are members that come here every single day and love the site. If they would like to pay a membership to help the site keep going, I think it is a good idea.
It is not like anyone is getting locked out, its still a free site.
