Post "Side Airbag OFF"????? please respond

Hello All,

Today at the stop light, I noticed that my side airbag off light came on for 10 seconds and then turned off. Is there a reason for this? Does it have a sensor that detects an obstruction and then turns off the airbag? Please let me know. There were other people in my car so someone could have had their hand over the sensor of something (if there is one).

I had the same thing occur the other night as well. After a few seconds, the light just went off. Any thoughts anyone?

if your passenger seat is occupied they were resting their arm on the side airbag sensor. its all ok its so if you get in a accident at that second their arm wont get ripped off. take care...Evan

Question

I thought the passenger-side Side Air-Bag goes off as soon as the passenger is not properly seated?? Or does the passenger has to lean toward the window??

GF fell asleep in my car the other day, and was leaning against my right arm. The Air-Bag Off light came on. Woke her up and told her to seat properly...

They wouldn't if their salesperson went over the car with them.
Didn't other people have a salesperson go over the car on delivery? My salesperson took an hour or so and went over the car tooth and comb. He demonstrated the airbag thing, set my clock, and programmed my seat, all during the delivery of the car. I was very impressed with their service there. I wonder if it will continue? Let's hope.
