using OEM TPMS sensors with new Work wheels

Hey guys, my Work wheels just came in. I was told that I would need to order a new set of TPMS sensors for the new wheels. Is this true? He quoted me about $70.

last time I got wheels TPMS ran me a lot more, then again I bought OEM TPMS and those worked instantly.

You do need TPMS, if you get it cheap and it works, why not.

You do need TPMS sensors or the alarms will drive you crazy....and I think something happens to the VSA, like you cannot turn it off. $70 for all four is a great price, usually closer to $120 for Acura sensors, but you do not need those. I believe they are all 315 MHz sensors made by TRW, wherever you get them.

Sorry, I should've made my question more clear. I am aware that you need TPMS sensors. What I meant to say is that I kept the TPMS sensors I bought with my Linea Corse wheels. I'm not sure if they will fit the new wheels though. I have the original Acura sensors too, but they're currently on my stock tires. I don't know which ones the guy from the store ordered for me. He's only charging me the price he gets it for though, because he forgot to order them when I ordered the wheels.

I have Euroline Work wheels on my Acura and my wheel guy ordered new TPMS sensors from Acura for them. I'm guessing your Work wheels will be similar to mine and need the stock sensors. So if the old sensors from the Linea Corsa wheels are stock (or pretty much the same), they'll probably work fine.

most wheels accept the TPMS sensors without any issue. My advice is to get the cheap $11 rebuild kit off ebay that gives you new cores, grommets, and caps to freshen up your old sensors before putting them on new wheels. I do this every time i take a sensor from one wheel to another just to play it safe.
Click for $11 rebuilt

If the wheels are not accepting the sensors properly which i have had some that didnt (Iforged Sprints) i ran the Iforged adapters that were $80 which honestly now that i learned better i over paid. You can run these simple adapters and save yourself quite a bit of money
Cheaper adapter link

Im on my 4th set of wheels for the RL and i have bought TPMS for all of them so im trying to give you the info ive learned through all my earlier mistakes. Hope this helps.

Replacing the cores every time is actually recommended service for TPMS, I can't remember what material TPMS cores are made out of, but they are "different" material than standard valves because of potential galvanic action, IIRC.

The service replacement pack that we typically use at my shop is a core, new valvestem cap, new screw on base, and a new rubber gasket (these tend to wear out after prolonged environmental exposure.) Of course when installing the new service pack everything is tightened down to OEM specs with the recommended torque settings.

When I recently had 4 tires replaced, my local tire chain shop recommended this and charged about $25 to do this for all 4.
