See if you can get them from Tire Rack.

Is it possible to remove the tpms sensors from your old wheels? I was getting my car serviced and asked my tech about this and he said you could... but I know they are often misinformed.

There are some on Ebay, specifically for Acura and the RL.

absolutely, TPMS is removable and reinstallable on new wheels, assuming the wheels are TPMS compatible, but the batteries are non replaceable and last a finite period of time, between 7-10 years depending on the design spec. So if your car is a 2005, and its 2010 now you may wish to consider your options on paying for labor to uninstall and reinstall old sensors.

I do not know what the Honda/Acura specs are for TPMS...anyone know??? My guess is 7 years, but that is just a guess.

The RLs TPMS is manufactured by TRW. They use lithium ion batteries with a typical lifespan of 6-10 years.

How can I reprogram the new tpms. I install the new wheels with tpms and the tire pressure is not showing up on the display.

No TPMS reprogramming is required. The readings should show up after a couple of miles of driving, maybe less, depending on conditions.

If not, are you sure you used the right part number?

I guess not. I have two sets of wheels, and no issue swapping back and forth. You wonder if there is a new generation of sensors from what was originally issued with the car.

I have a 06 RL. The wheels and sensors are from 09 TL. Should there be any changes for sensors? I keep getting the sensor error message from the display. Maybe I'll ask one of our vendors about it.

If you need I have a set of RL TPMS sensors that I bought from tirerack a few months ago for my new a-spec wheels. I didn't know that the a-specs come with new sensors though, so they are just sitting here. The new ones synced right up with my car no problem. Ill sell the set for $80 shipped.

Well that could be the issue because the part numbers are different between the TL and the RL, and in fact, between the original 2G RL and the MMC 2G RL.

TPMS Part Numbers
2009 TL Part No 42753-TK4-A01
2006 RL Part No 06421-S3V-A04
2009 RL Part No 42753-SHJ-A53

I read somewhere that Honda and Acura use 15 different sensor types across all the models and years since TPMS has been introduced.

Let us know what you find out.

Dopes, I sent you a PM about the sensors. Thanks!
