TPMS and 2 sets of wheels

A friend has a 06 RL and has the stock wheels but recently bought the A specs. He wants to use the A-spec as his summer wheel and the stocks as the winters.

He is going to buy a second set of sensors

Can you have 2 sets of TPMS sensors without issues or will he have to swap the senors between wheels??

Any help is appreciated.

Thanx

Yes you can have two sets of sensors.

Tell him to check the A-Spec wheels. Last I saw, if you get them new from a dealer, they come with sensors. No need to spend an extra $120.

Once you mount the new wheels and sensors, drive for a couple of miles and the car will calibrate itself to the new sensors. Just did it with my new wheels.

Ditto on that. I have a 19" set with TPMS sensors for summer and stock wheels with sensors for winter. It's a much easier swap obviously, pull off one set of wheels/tires, put on the other. No foolin around with the sensors!! It's the best option by far.

Question on TPMS

I have stock wheels and tires(2005 RL). I bought another set of stock wheels and tires on ebay(2007 RL). It comes with TPMS. If I install the wheels and tires I bought will I have to recalibrate the TPMS since it was taken from a 2007 RL. The discount tire shop wants around $25 for resetting it.

Or will it work automatically after installing.

It will work automatically after driving on the newly installed wheels for a couple of miles.

I have done it.

I have heard, but do not know, that some TPMS do need a reset when changing out wheels. However, the RL does not. Maybe the vendor does not know the RL.
