Need Advice on '06 RL
I just bought a used certified, pre-owned '08 RL and the PAX wheels/tires had been simply replaced by the dealer with chromed factory rims and normal tires. I have heard that the only 'issue' is that if you didn't know that the tires were no longer PAX, that you might continue driving if you saw the low tire pressure warning light (and run the risk of an accident, I suppose).
Hope that helps.

Some of the suspension components on a PAX equipped car are different (but nobody who's dePXed here has complained that I know of).
You'll need rims and tires (obviously), lug nuts (probably), a spare, trunk insert to hold the spare, hold down bolt, and few labels (optional but cheap). Probably $500 - $600 unless you can find a used spare cheap (I found one on eBay for $150). Also, you may be able to get the spare rim from a dealer but not the tire. You may have to hunt for that.
Also TPMS sensors. Not sure if the ones from PAX rims fit "normal" rims but since PAX service requires special equipment, it may be more cost effective to buy new sensors anyway.
I re-PAXed a few months ago (bought a set of mounted PAX off eBay for $700 shipped) but still added the spare recently since there is not too much PAX support out there.

Allegedly, the rear shocks are slightly softer to deal with the heavy weight of the PAX units. Changing them out seems to present no real issues if you go conventional, although you will have the software issue. If there is a TPMS event, the car will tell you have 125 miles to drive to get to a PAX authorized service center, such instructions can have deadly consequences if followed and the car is equipped with conventional tires.
