check this out - i have a one month old 05 rl. i am having tires probs with vibrations. (not getting better after balancing). i asked the dealer about just upgrading to the aspec wheels/tires. here is their response:

credit (i assume on both tires and wheels) - $760

aspec cost (wheels and tires) - $3413

this is after i have spent nearly $80K at there dealership in the past 9 months.

DOES ANYONE KNOW THE LIST PRICE ON THE ASPEC WHEELS/TIRES?

THEY ARE ON EBAY AROUND $2500.

I would tell them to give you the credit and give you the aspec wheels and tires at the 2500 you have seen at the other places. Point out that you have bought a couple cars there within the year and that you expect better service from them.

I thought I had tire vibrations too but the dealer has tried evrything including new tires and even a set of 18' rims - not the tires - vibration is most noticeable on smooth pavment at 72 mph - have you had any luck with the tire change?

I paid about $2,500 for the 18"s with Pirellis and kept the original wheels and tires. Your dealer is giving you a fair deal at the $3413 because when you try to sell your original wheels and tires you will realize that they are not worth much in the used market - so, they are really charging you $2653 plus whatever they can get for your old wheels. If the deal includes the Michelin PS2 summer tire then it's even better because that tire cost much more than the Pirellis PZero Nero that all of us recommend. However, you may want to keep the OEM wheels to install a nice set of snow tires and use them for winter - the original Michelins are terrible and deserve to be thrown out.

I have paid $1400 shipped for a set of A-Spec wheels (non chrome look from Acura dealer new) and around $474 for set of tires. (90% thread left on them from xbay) Total of $1874.00.
I decided to buy new wheels, as you never know! I have heard occurrences of damaged (from cars after accident) wheels being repainted and sold. Unless you take X-ray of the wheel, you never know what you are getting! My friend had a Corrado, and his wheel exploded on him while driving. He ended up in neck brace for 6 months. (He had used wheels from xbay, “only 400 miles on them” what a joke!)
