Flat Tire
Flat Tire
One night last week I was home sitting in my recliner about 7PM and my wife called. She was on her way home and said the TPMS alert came on. She said it showed 6 psi on the right front tire ... then said now it says 3 psi. I said I think you have a flat tire and you need to pullover. She said she already had pulled over ... suprise, suprise.
I told her to call onstar. They said they would try to find somebody to change the tire. They called back in a few minutes and said they had called Acura roadside assistance and would let her know something.
In the mean time, I left to go change the tire. She was about 30 miles from home. I changed the tire and on the way home the Acura RS assitance called and wanted to know where she was. They apparently has someone to change the tire but is was already done. The problem in rural West Tennessee is that everything closes at 5PM (except WalMart).
Anyway, the next day I took the flat to my local tire dealer and the sidewall was cut. The tire could not be fixed so I had to buy a new tire. I bought 2 new ones at $269 each since the car has about 40K miles. I thought this was pretty high for a tire, but couldn't find any cheaper ones. I remember when I was in high school I could take my car to this same dealer, leave it all day, and they would recap all 4 tires for $20.00. Of course that was a long time ago.

Cut In Sidewall Would Make The Tire Not A Candidate For Recap....darn .
My Car Is New With 2k Miles. Before I Get To 30k, I Will Have A Full Spare Set Of Tires, (prehaps Rims) On Ebay There Are Lots Of "take Offs" That People Install Other Rims On The Rl When They Are New.

Will the tire well fit a full size 245-45/18 wheel tire in it? Or must you use the temp spare?
I know in other cars, in the days of 15 inch wheels, and 60 sections, you could fit a full size spare if you removed the styrofoam spacer. These days, I have no idea. Anyone actually tried to fit a full size tire in the trunk well?

Not enough room.
The cover for the trunk wheel well won't lie flat.
Not good on a $50k car IMHO. A full-size spare should be an option from the factory, weight issues notwithstanding.
