Factory wheels

Why are the 18" wheels a dealer option at almost $3000 with new rubber? I noticed in the most recent C&D mag that the beautiful 18" AMG wheels are only $1000 factory option on the new C350. A quick glance at BMW and Audi, and others show a similar upcharge and they come with tires!

Not sure why Acura chose to do that either? I think 18" rims should have been standard on the 2nd generation RL. I want to upgrade to 18", but don't want to pay the 3K price tag. I keeping an eye on ebay for some a use set. Seen them go for around $600-800 with tires.

The wheels/tires are a dealer-installed option and so are charged accordingly. If you don't want to pay that, just do what I did and buy them on eBay. I bought the wheels and tires separately--gives you maximum flexibility according to your needs. When last I checked, they were $1300-1400 a set without tires. This was many months ago, so the prices may have changed.
