I have yet to see a problem documented here. I am not sure I understand your situation/concern. Does your MID say to change the fluid? If so, you should do it. If you do it, do it correctly with a 3x3 flush.

EDIT: I just read your other thread which explains a little more but not much. You should change the fluid when you MID tells you to. The manual states that for a worst case scenario, the fluid should be changed at 60,000 mi, and then every 30k after that. Unless you are driving in mountains at less than 0 deg or more than 110 deg, I don't see a problem with waiting until 72,000. Did you do a 3x3 flush?

Also, in the future, it will help you to get more meaningful responses if you post as much info as possible in one thread instead of two.

IMO, don't wait for MID to tell you to change it. I plan to change mine every 12,000 miles. Coming from buying a used RL (50k), the previous owner never changed it. There was some shifting issues, such as long delay between shifts as well as some noises coming from the transmission (grinding/metallic sound). The color of the fluid was brown, but doesn't smell burnt.

I definitely suggest changing it and doing as oo7spy said, 3x3 flush. ATF-Z1 DW1. It helped so much, made a huge difference for me. I'm very sensitive about transmission issues, as I had previous Accords with tranny issues.

The Legend trannys are completely different than the Accord, TL, & CL trannys as far as issues go. 12k is excessive , but whatever helps you sleep at night. I think the 30k interval is reasonable.

I guess I don't drive the cars that much. 25k is better, but the point was to change it before the MID tells you. My used RL didn't even show a change ATF at all, and the quality of it was pretty darn bad.

I believe that. I usually practice changing most of the fluids early the first time so I see where this goes against that. I am at 44k, and my tranny definitely isn't as smooth as when I bought it at 27k. Did you notice a difference after the service? Did you do it yourself?

I did the fluid change myself. I didn't do the drain and fill 3x during 1 day. I drain once, drove a week and changed it again. And repeat. But I definitely felt a change from the first drain and fill. The car felt a lot more better, the vibrations and sounds were gone and the shifting was silky smooth. It just had a positive feel.

Oh yea, just to add, I drain and refill 1x but I do it often, so i guess it's like drain and refill 3x, over long interval.

That makes sense too. I contemplated going that route. Thanks for the feedback.

Yes, change it before the MID tells you to. I had the dreaded grinding noise at 1500rpm, and it was due to the dirty transmission fluid that the MID did not prompt me to change. Did a 3x3 flush, and all was fixed. Car was at 36K, and I don't believe the MID ever told me to change it before.

Any chance we can get a moderator to clean up the RL forum a little bit? This, (along with a few other threads), definitely don't belong in the wheel/tire/suspension forum.
