3rd party tpms

So I have a set of 19' aspec rims that I've put on my RL and instead of reusing my stock wheel tpms I got bnib Dorman 974-037 which should be compatible with this gen RL. Yesterday I took it for a spin and within 5min got readings from two of the wheels, got out to run an errand come back in and got a tpms warning. Now there are no readings, is there any way to check the tpms sensors short of removing the tires? I'm very tempted to just pony up and get new oem sensors since I was looking to put winter rubber on my stocks. Help, suggestions, anything heh

I think some of the tire stores have a hand-held sensor/reader for the purpose of diagnosing issues with the TPMS units. I've seen it used at a Discount Tire in SoCal. I bet wherever installed your tires has one.

So your question is how to check the sensors? I would say if there is air in the tires and you are getting alarms or no readings that there is a problem.

There are a few posts where people are getting them from TireRack or just ordering a rebuild kit for their factory set up.

Its just weird that it went from registering a psi reading to nothing

Guess I'll be hitting up a few local tire shops...the place I got my tires put on probably doesnt have the diagnostic tool

My right rear TPMS sensor seems to be on the fritz, twice i have gotten intermittent error for this tire....the error seems to manifest itself when it's colder out ( around 25-30F....I live in the high desert around palmdale).

I was looking at getting a spare sensor incase the error doesn't go away this time...Are these dorman's any good?

I see there is also a brand called "Standard" and another called "Air Aware"...any one have experience with these brands?
