nice, I would think the dealer would offer a solution, but sometimes you have to take the initiative.

Where did you buy the piping for the extension? Others interested in this mod will want to know.

Good job with the install pictures, though!

I agree. Where did you get that pipe? Seems like a specialty type part. Save us all some fishing on the internet and give us a part number or website, etc.

Thanks in advance

All parts are from Pep boys. I forgot the size (part #548549).
For less than $15.00 (21/4" clamps (2), adapter pipe (2), High temp. paint can.
You can omit high temp. paint* ( save you $5.00).

*I used high temp. paint just to be sure they are not rusted in the long run.

For the adapter pipe as in the picture #2, you need to cut 2 places 3/4" L x 1/2" wide and slightly bend up so when you slide in, it will not interfere the welded OEM bracket. Also, you have to change the longer screw that holds the exhaust tip so it will stay secure.

nice job!

btw, your 3M doubled sided tape deck spoiler install looks good too! Thinking of doing the same thing, since I don't want to drill holes. Any issues since your install?

Good to hear! My spoiler is en route and I should have it Friday. I'm off this weekend, so the spoiler gets stuck on then, as well as the new steering wheel (also en route).

Follow up:

Just got a chance to go over to Pep Boys and get that exhaust pipe adapter you suggested. Part number was correct and led me right to the piece I needed (#548549). They were out of muffler clamps but it fits so snug (and I banged it on good) that it should hold just fine until I can get some. Looks SOOO much better now.

Couple things; First, you said we want 2 1/4 clamps. I think we need 2 3/8 or 2 1/2 to fit around the "female" end of that connector pipe. Regardless, they were out of all sizes and I'll need to look elsewhere. Second, that cutout you said was needed didn't apply to me in any way. Not sure why, from the picture, your exhaust tip and adapter pipe seem identical, however, it didn't get in my way.

Once again, thanks for the suggestion and the part#. Such a simple solution I feel like an idiot not thinking of it myself.

I'd take a picture, but, it looks identical to your shots posted already.

I am glad you did it. Please show pic. any way so others can learn from a simple solution

1) Yes, you are correct on clamp I.D ( 23/8").
2) The cutout were a guess work to made sure it will not interfered with the weld bracket on OEM pipe and easy for inserting adapter pipe to the OEM pipe.

OK, here's some pictures. As you can see, the adapter pipe added a good 4 inches of length. Perfect to get the tips out from under the Underbody spoiler. The downside to this is now I have to keep them clean. Oh, the price of beauty

I added a new shot from under the car showing it installed so others can clearly understand what we did to solve the problem. Also added a front shot of the car (unrelated to the project) just because I wanted to show my front spoiler. I know some people have written they don't like the OEM front spoiler. I happen to like it.

By the way, I went to Discount Auto Parts today to get the clamps (whichPep Boys didn't have) They had a rack of exhaust pipe reducers like Pep Boys but didn't have the odd size we needed. Anyone interested in this solution should just go to Pep Boys and ask for part #548549. It's actually called a 2 3/8 to 2 1/4 Reducer, and, it fit VERY snug on my pipe.

Thanks again buddy for pointing me in the right direction for a quick and easy solution.
