My RL at Pike's Peak, May 2008

I'm headed back to Colorado tomorrow for more vacation, so I thought I'd share a few pictures of my last trip to Pike's Peak in the RL from May. I love Colorado....I wish I lived there.

The navi display at the top of Pike's Peak is a little off...17 feet off to be exact...
The dust is from the road. We drove up the mountain with the windows open until the last 1000 vertical feet, when the outside temp was 38 degrees. It'd been 75 at the base of the mountain!

The RL in front of the tourist shop at the top of Pike's Peak...

Near Crystal Reservoir, 1/2 way up Pike's Peak

No. I think the A-Spec body kit looks stuck on. I like the clean lines of the stock car better.

I wish we'd taken the RL to Colorado this time around...but had to take the Pilot. Sigh.

Thumbs up

Bob,
My family has owned a cabin in Green Mountain Falls just 12 miles North of Manitou Springs. I know the area extremely well. I've taken the cograil train to the Peak several times. A MUST DO.....

Driving your vehicle adds tons of wear and tear....I would never take my vehicle up that mountain. I can remember my siblings and parents discussing this when I was 6 years old....."Take the limo service or better yet the train".....But hey you have a unique picture of your car on the summit of Pikes Peak!

Ole timer out.....

Nice pictures!! And I agree, the A-spec body kit doesn't look as good as stock, and just adds weight!!

I've done it twice myself. It's a very relaxing ride but is always full during the summer season. I should buy a cabin up there. Green Mountain Falls is so gorgeous. Again, I wish I lived in Colorado.....but can't convince the wife to leave Cleveland.

I've taken every car I've ever owned, except for one, up Pike's Peak at least once as I go there every year. It's really not that much trouble in a modern car as long as you take it easy on the way up and drive in low gear on the way down so you don't overuse the brakes.

Good shots. Love the mountains! (Lived in SW Ontario for 25 years. Flat land. )

Like your trunk spoiler. Considering one for our RL.

^^^^^

I owned a beautiful NBP 2G TL and drove THAT up Pike's Peak, too. This was before I knew about the tranny problems, though. If I'd known, I would've taken the train up the mountain that year.

Looks like a hoot getting up to the top. Nice pics. Bet I could make a killing if I had a carwash on the peak.

neuronbob- Love your car.. I have a TSX and so from time to time I get on the RL forum because my dad has an 05. I wish my dad would get the a-spec suspension, rims, tint, and the 5zigen exhaust like yours. I'm in Columbus so we're kind of close

Thanks guys.

The big brakes held up going down the mountain very nicely. I drove down with the RL on manual setting, in 1st and 2nd gear. That way, the brakes were only lightly used.

Yup, my wife and 2-year-old are in the picture. Dunno who the guy in the dark jacket is, just happened to be passing by when I took the picture.
