Apparently NJ troopers have developed a hard-on for window tint. I have been pulled over twice this week for tint and received one ticket. My previous car was a black 05 TL with 35% all around, and I had the car for three years and not even so much as a double take from police. Now it seems like i can't pull out of my driveway without being pulled over. Anybody else in NJ having issues?

That is correct. Any % on the rear windshield and rear windows but no tint at all on the front windows.. NJ troopers are strict and have always been with tint on your windows. I gave up and removed the tint on my fronts. In my opinion a white car with dark tint brings much more attention than a black car with tint.. I say remove the fronts as I always had my sunroof open and it never helped! Good luck!
I ended up paying $56 for the ticket. I am thinking about switching my registration back to Michigan. I am active duty military so I still hold a MI drivers license. I am pretty sure the tint laws are the same but NJ cops won't know that.
Fla has the best tint laws if you can work out a mailing address there.
And I can assure you that wont work in Va... these troopers will write you if for not updating your address and the tint.

I actually own a home in NJ (I've been here for 13 years), but since I am technically just stationed here I am able to keep MI as my home of record. They allow this because you may only be stationed in one location for a few years, so we don't have to go through the ass-pain of changing our residence every time they move us. One benefit of this is that MI does not require active duty to pay state tax, so for that reason I kept MI. Now it may prove useful again for this little tint dilemma.
A friend called it the NJ Tint Tax.

Sounds like you earned it.

'05 through mid-'07, I believe, had them.
