20% tint and LED backup lights and S. Florida weather

Today the weather is glorious Sunny, comfortable breeze, my day off.... so I decided to snap a few shots..... woke up this morning, dropped off my car at the dealership to get the A1 service (oil change, rotate tires, wash, dress-up tires, etc.) and had the LED backup light bulb installed by the dealer.... drove my TL around to do my errand (soooooo different).... had my friend dropped me off at the dealership to pick up my car.... feeling great and smilling all the way home..... I got the tint done 2 weekends ago, 20% all around..... I'll try to take some nite pix on the LED backup lights..... I think I'm pretty caught up with the mod bug..... the next possible mod will be a 09 interior swap (that won't be anytime soon).... well, enough BS..... here are the pix

Which LEDs did you use for your license plate and back-up lights?

thx..... I got mine from ebay.... look up
9-LED Bulb Light Super Bright Car Light White 194 SMD
and for the reverse light bulb:
2pcs 7440 7443 Refractor 24 LED (White) Turn/Tail Bulb

this particular one for the license plate light is still a bit too big for our license plate light housing.... but really bright.... so don't don't worry about mounting it securely (I left mine hanging:P).... I'm gonna shop for some more LEDs those bulbs are cheap and good so you can try different sets (if you have a clip remover to pull back the lining, you can change out those bulbs any day, any time, if you don't, get one)..... as for the reverse light bulb, I just got them installed by the dealer today (they really hooked me up) so I'll post some pix tonite.....

the 360 degree is not very efficient, u need to have one that point to one direction. the license plate light houseing doesn't have the reflectors to reflect light towards one direction (it's just plastic in the back).... make sure they are SMT or SMD LED, otherwise, you'll be changing flashing LED bulbs soon.... the license plate light is meant for extended use so get the one that can with stand high power, extended use.... interior, signal, back up bulbs, regular led will do....

Car looks great!
$80 for the whole tint job? That's an awesome price! Guess they really rape us here in Cali.

yep.... find a busted up 09 RL for interior swap.... well, not the whole thing, door panel, HU/center console, seat (keep original head rest), of course the steering wheel..... and extend the exhaust tip an inch or 2 to make flush with A-spec rear underspoiler.....

How can one go about finding a busted up RL when they're not even that many around? I'd think you would be looking into this a bit more than simply stumbling upon one like you would a 1995 Honda Civic...

Would make sense to put a cover over that...it's still an expensive car regardless of damage.

well, if this car is going for 10k, do you think it's worth getting? the parts alone will cost more than that...... i guess if i get it, i'm only interested in the interior parts.... anyone interested in getting their RL upgraded to a 3.7 engine?

Damn, I'd say that car is in relatively pretty good condition. Interior still looks practically mint.. and outside, well, it's got a couple dings but I think 10k for it is pretty good... I'd think about turning that thing for quick profit, however. Granted I ain't no expert at estimating cost of damage, but I would think it'd be worth it.. and probably try to get the place to take a few hundred off their price...

Obviously I'd try an get a good idea on what it'd cost me to put back together before buying.. but then again, I'm thinking of flipping it, and you want the whole inside interior.... DO IT!

Hell, sell the wheels and tires for a quick couple grand maybe.. heck, part out what you need, sell the rest, and junk whatevers left ha!

Poor 09 RL....

i feel like you would be able to make quite a bit of money off the parts on the car. probably not 10k worth. maybe we should start a list of how much someone could get selling various parts. Lets make it an acurazine gb and part it out, haha.

That's a wonderful idea..... come to think of it, I do have all the parts to replace the broken portion of this RL.... I wonder what'll happen if I change the front and the back to the 05-08 style RL and keep the 09 setup instead of swapping interior (I do like the timeless look of my RL + A-Spec body kit).... can my 06 become an 09.... just a thought.... I wonder how they r gonna write this up.....

Um, yeah!

While its painful to see a brand new RL in that condition, the damage doesn't look that bad. It looks like our RL driver rear-ended someone and then got bumped into from the rear. I even see the other taillight sitting on the parcel shelf.

On the other hand, with impact-absorbing structures the damage could be hard to see. I'd ask a reputable body shop for an estimate to restore it, and if the price was right, you'd be driving a nearly new car for 50 cents on the dollar (or better). Still a bit of a risk.

Just let me know if no one wants the wheels. :-)

that's what i'm wondering too.... the front and back..... well, maybe just the front.... Like I mentioned earlier, I really like the timeless look of the original RL + A-Spec.... I'm gonna bite the bullet and lock it at 10k for the whole thing.... I mean, dame silver color/black interior w/ 1101 miles on the odo. with new car smell still.... worst case scenario, get rejected and look for other opportunities.... I'll keep everyone posted....

Why don't you inquire about the engine damage and what state of mind the frame is in.

no damage to the frame. don't even need to be pulled. It was hit pretty high and the hood is stucked... engine still starts and the power still comes on... I guess it's all cosmetic damages... the big grill took the hit (if it's the new TL, the big nose prob. can protect it better:P)...

Arrrrrrg the $10k offer was rejected.... someone offered $12500 and took the deal.... well, guess the wait goes on.... but would've been a nice deal tho... even if it's to be flipped, the repair is not even that much both airbag, seat belt, dash, rear bumper, hood, honda legend grill, labor.... maybe 6-8K

don't be bummed: that car will have "salvage title" after that wreck, and will be hard to insure. Neat parts hiding in there, though!

psheu, do you have a DIY to take out the taillight? Or is it easy to do? I haven't taken a look yet, but I'm planning on painting the bulbs.

I took out the two screws but can't seem to take out the taillight. Do I just yank it out? Scared to break something.
