06 RL w/ RonJon Legend

Finally decided to de-pax my 06 RL and found a killer deal from Ron on a set of 19" Legend (Liquid Silver) that I couldn't pass up. Put 245/40/19 Continental ExtremeContact DWS and cannot be happier with look/ride/price. All said and done, new rims/tires/TPMS/lug nuts/wheel lock...etc, it came a bit less than $2k. My goal was to not look 'flashy' while maintaining comfortable/quiet ride and I enjoy it so far. Here are some pictures.

snapfish is a complicated monster, too sleepy to go through source code.

Post them up in the AZ photo album.

OK I'm going to try this again thanks to ron... Here goes!

I hate to report this but this morning, I put my first curb scratch on my rear-driver side. Talking on my phone while entering a parking deck, didn't notice the curb. Scratch is about 2" long. So frustrated but nothing I can do but to blame myself.....

I do alot of downtown driving and going in and out of parking deck, parking on the street at ATL downtown so curb scratch was forthcoming. Part of me is glad that I finally got the first one. (sorta like first scratch on your car) You know it's coming... but first one is always the hardest to swallow. I'll be staring at it everytime I get in/out of car but lesson learn.

As for the wheel set up, I couldn't be happier.

Honestly would have liked it more if interior was black. Always had a thing for dark leather.

Looks perfect on silver. That was my first choice with black interior but my wife wanted white with black interior. In regards to your vehicle it needs a minimum drop in my opinion. Maybe consider some H&R springs.

H&R is actually the maximum drop without going to coils, minimum is a-spec.

White/Black was my dream combo but that sure was difficult to find. And when I do find one, it had too many miles.

As for drop... i'm going to stay as is. Not into car-mods. This is strictly to de-pax and deal Ron had was too good to pass up than going with OEM take-offs.

Why just an approximation and in a previous thread you claimed these to be 24lbs.

One thing I'll note for those looking at same wheel.... Ron recommended using spline lug nuts but unfortunately short ones are discontinued. Long ones are approx 2" longer (.25" longer than standard) so they will stick out a bit. Also if you have a wheel lock on it, it looks a bit odd.

Please link me to that thread, and it's an approximation because the bolt pattern, offset and finish make a difference on the weight as much as a 1.5 lbs.

Here are some pics to show you the comparisons overall between OEM wheels and RJ wheels:

About the comparison, were both tires inflated to proper pressures? Why are you comparing a 235/45 vs a 235/35, the lighter of the 2 has less tire ergo less weight.

Here's the thread, look at post #23 https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-2005-2012-76/new-ronjon-legend-wheel-official-debut-%2A%2Apics-pg-1-a-499021/ - you actually said the 19x8 in a 45 offset is 24.6lbs. Perhaps your 41 offset version weighs more.

so we can't use the oem mcgard lugs with the rims? does your lugs stick out? i'm going to ask ron if i can get blk rj center caps on liquid silver since my car's blk/blk.

No, can't use OEM lugs.
If you look closely on my last picture, you can tell these spline stick out a bit. Hardly noticeable unless you really try.

Here's the thread, look at post #23 https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=499021 - you actually said the 19x8 in a 45 offset is 24.6lbs. Perhaps your 41 offset version weighs more.
Yes, those wheels came off with full air pressure, and the reason we had different tire sizes is because that was a wheel test fit session, not a tire test fit session, we were just trying to establish which offset was best for an 08 Accord at the time with only select tire sizes on hand. Read all about it here:
Accord Coupe wheel test fit

As far as the weight, the thread you pointed out was from 2007 when we debuted the wheel, and we had weighed the wheels that we had on hand. 24.6 lbs and 25.5 lbs is about the difference between the specs of 32mm offset with more aluminum on the mounting pad as opposed to 41mm offset with a less aluminum on the mounting pad.

This is exactly what I mentioned before about the varying weight differences between the different spec wheels. Maybe I'm wrong, but it feels like you are trying to find a hole in my explanation, bottom line is out wheels are built to be lighter than a comparative OEM sized wheel, which they are. 18" Legends are 22.5 lbs on average compared to an 18" OEM Accord wheel which weights about 26 lbs. Bring into the equation the PAX system wheel, and you will not longer be in the light weight category since that system adds alot of weight to the wheel, more so than any standard wheel in the industry.

I don't believe there is any reason to hijack this thread anymore debating this wheel weigh topic any further. Thanks

I know guys.... first time I've 'officially' modded my car and you guys hijack with weight difference. Who really cares about 1-2 lbs difference? They're extremely lighter than PAX which is what I care the most.

Oh btw, I just upgraded my interior lights with LED. Would love to post pictures but don't know where. Any suggestion?

I'm about to do the same, perhaps we could start a new thread and post comparison shots? In regard to hosting pictures, have you checked if your ISP provides a webspace? I'm using a relatives' webspace to host my images and although it isn't much (10mb) it's enough for a few images. Aside from that I suppose you could use cardomain or flickr but I'm not familiar with their rules on image ownership once uploaded.

More importantly, I apologize for thread jacking.

Ask Ron for some special discount. Between open box items and wheels used at car shows...etc, he may have some deals you can't refuse.

Hope this works...
Replaced all interior lights including vanity/map/dome/trunk/license plate.

Lights are white but for whatever reason, they seem 'blue' in these pictures.

haha, they definitely seem blue! looks like you were a bit less agressive than me with those lights, my front lights light up half the car one at a time.
