I had the radio unit replaced under warranty in my 06 RL because the in-dash disk player would jam and now the new unit will not play WMA files - even ones the old unit did before. It still plays MP3's. Any thoughts?

The dealer may have replaced your 06 radio with an 05 model. The 05 will not play WMA encoded cd's (even though the owners manual says it will).

 

Will the dealer replace the 05 radio to 06 because the Owner's manual said it will play WMA?

 

thanks for all the help. just got the car back and the unit the dealer installed was a 2005 so it didn't play WMA's. Works great now.

 

No, all the parts are apparently tied to the VIN. If I would want them to put a 06 radio into my 05, it would be treated as an aftermarket addition. The dealer said that they weren't sure if everything would work correctly if they did that. That would also mean that the new car warranty would be over.
They just said that "it was an error in the manual, and on page ## of the manual it states that they aren't responsible for errors".
