Where To Get 5.1surround Sound Disc

That 5.1 demo CD that came with the RL is awesome...but after having gone into a few stores with no luck...you can either go to the "5point1" website that came with the CD or is there a better place or store like BestBuy to see a good selection. Surround sound is one of the things that make the RL one of a kind.

bestbuy should ahve a decent section of dvd-a or dts titles for you to choose from.

If you like Queen then the dvd-a version of "night at the opera" is good for surround effects.

I was at my local Best Buy recently and could only find a handful of DVD-A discs. I began looking for these a couple of years back when I got my TL, and it seems the shelf space for this technology has decreased over time.

After I bought the RL, it took me a long time to figure out which free disc I wanted from the 5.1 site. There just wasn't anything there that really interested me. Ended up getting Queen - The Game. Not complaining too much...free is free...just wish there was more of a commitment to these formats.

There's a lot of DVD-A available at musicdirect.com....

I can heartily reccommend the Blue Man Group's "Complex".... it's pretty impressive in DVD-A.

Also, if you're looking to be blown away like the well-recorded (but, really, boring) music on the Bose disc, look for recordings that are done in 96-bit. If they're in 48-bit, you don't get quite as much out of the DVD-A format, because the resolution on the recording isn't that much higher than CD-audio.

The only stores I've found DVDAudio or DTS Stereo have been the Best Buys, and not all stores have them, and those that do have a limited selection. I've looked in Birmingham, AL, Jackson, MS and Tupelo, MS. So far, Birmingham is the only place I've found them.

Two other sources I've seen mentioned here is buy.com and CD Universe. I haven't ordered from either, but do know they've been mentioned.

Criky, I think I've misplaced that freebee card. I wanted to get that Santana disk, one of the few on that site that remotely interested me.

5.1 was pretty cool to me... when I scratched off the wax on my card, it took the NUMBER with it. I shot them an email with my VIN and my dealership, told them the card was hosed, and they sent me a card key by email so I could get my free disc.

YMMV, but it's worth a try.
