As noted previously in this forum and on the Alpine ordering web page, 4.62 benefits, if you can get it to run, are:

Product Highlights
This year's update includes updated points of interest (POI) and map coverage. Navigation feature changes include the addition of one-way street icons, and POI brand icons. However, the Setup option "Male voice", used for both route guidance and voice control feedback, is no longer available

In addition to the above, I would also add that the software patch for DST is included--you now have your choice of the "new" date or the old date. I also feel that the software calcs and recalcs the routing much faster than before from 4.31c that I also had.

The Acura navi site is still showing 4.62 unavaible for 2006 RLs.

Time to try the torrents again for the 4.63 version....I hate to do so but again I must protest the poor service from Alpine and Acura on this issue. If it were available I'd gladly pay for it.

Navi DVD

I called Alpine earlier this week and the woman promised (my guess is she shouldn't have actually promised) that the latest DVD for my 07 RL would be out by the end of July. I will call back later in the month, but she said that as soon as it is available the page will show up with an order button.

Thumbs up 4.63 Update

Don't know about 4.7 but I got 4.63 yesterday and installed it without any problems in my 06 RL. I did not even get the dreaded diagnostic screen but I was already on 4.62 before yesterday's upgrade.

I was missing streets before going with 4.62 and probably went to 4.63 because, simply, got the chance to do it...

I guess we 05' owners are being left behind on the Navi Disc update. This is unacceptable from a company like Acura. If the Navi unit in our 05' is the problem, I guess we should be getting free replacements right?

Anyone tried with the RLs yet? (especially the 05s?)

My mini courier should deliver in approximately 7hrs before my restlessness goes nova.
Did you try 4.63 on 2005 RL?
Someone gave me a 4.63 disc from 2009 TSX and I don't know if i can upgrade from my current 4.11 or need an intermittant upgrade before upgrading to 4.63? Called Acuranavi.com and they say that they do not have any discs in shipping right now for RL.

Oh, and the 4.62 and 4.63 versions from other sources work quite well.

Works fine, no diagnostic screens, have all maps. Great!

Now give us the official release on the web site, Alpine!

What awful service.

[QUOTE=neuronbob]I downloaded and burned the widely available TL version of 4.62 just for chuckles. Doesn't work. The software loads, I get the diagnostic screen, I follow the instructions to get out, and I get an empty map. No streets, no nothing. Has this happened to anyone else? I downgraded to my current 4.31 disc and all is well.

I had the same problem - tried burning the DVD on 2 different PC's with the same result. Now when I put my old DVD back in it won't recognize it - says an older DVD has been inserted. How does when go back to an older version?

Yep, but try using v.4.63 and a different brand of DVD-DL media. Vertbatim (you can get it through newegg.com) works better than Memorex at least on the '07 Nav unit.

Actually I went back and looked at some older posts and figured out how to do it... reloaded the old software and then put the new DVD back in and it reloaded perfectly this time and now my GPS is working as it should.

Navi DVD is on its way

I quickly went on the Alpine site yesterday and ordered the 4.64 version. I just got confirmation that it is in UPS's hands and due to arrive on the 20th at my house. I will update you then as to whether it works properly.

DVD arrived today. Installed OK (3 or 4 minutes). Map data here (St. Louis) is several years behind actual construction. Was expecting better update.
