USA-SPEC stereo interface question

I've purchased a PA15-HON3 stereo interface for my 2008 RL base. Most information on usa-spec's web site has the interfaces plugging into the XM receiver for other models, but this particular one says to plug directly into the radio. The plug will fit the XM receiver.
Would it matter if I plugged it into the XM receiver? I'd like to avoid getting into the dash if I can.
Thanks for any input.

The first lines of the manual say "RL 06-09 Non Nav"

Then "If your car is one of the following Acura model year then use the
PA15 -HON2 model:
TSX 04-09 with Navigation
MDX 05-06 with Navigation"

I believe you need this one: "Connects your iPod to select 2007-up Acura factory radios with navigation and Live Traffic"

USA Spec iPodŽ Interface for Acura Connects your iPod to select 2007-up Acura factory radios with navigation and Live Traffic at Crutchfield.com

Either way, follow the instructions... the plugs may be the same, but the pin out could be very different.

WARNING!!
Only use the iPod connection cable which comes with PA15-ACUxl interface
adaptor. iPod connection cable from other sources may look similar but they
may damage your iPod.
