Is there a way to force the rear-view mirror to dim? I've had several instances during daytime where I've wanted to dim the mirror. One was daytime driving in front of someone with their poorly aimed headlights glaring in my eyes. The other is when the sun is directly behind (yes, the sunshade helps on this one).

In cars with the manual day-night, I could easily flick the mirror into night mode until the problem passed (or the sun set). What can be done to force the auto-dim mirror to dim on command?

Not a mechanical way. If you put your finger in front of the "eye" in front of the mirror, it'll dim.
