Retrieving radio code - help needed.

Hi all,

I didn't get any manuals or codes with my RL and I called Acura client services for help on retrieving the radio/navi/xm codes and have managed to get all but the Radio code. According to the Acura rep, I start with the ignition in the On position, ensure radio is off, press and hold the 1 and 6 preset buttons, turn the radio on and that should display a code but all I get is 'Diag'. This is displaying at the top, in the center, below the center channel speaker.

Any idea what I can do to get the radio code to display?

Yes, in fact part of that process requires the serial # of the radio which is where I'm trying to get by the above process.

I am not sure the instructions you got apply to the RL. Here are similar instructions for the TSX.

1.Turn the ignition switch to ACC (I).
2.Turn on the audio unit, and make sure you see COdE in the upper display. If you don’t see this message, pull the backup fuse for 1 minute, and then go back to step 1.
3.Turn off the audio unit.
4.Press and hold the top halves of the SEEK/SKIP and CH/DISC bars, and then press and release the PWR/VOL knob. This display toggles between two screens.
5.The first screen displays a U and the first four digits of the serial number (for example, U2200).
6.The second screen displays an L and the last four digits of the serial number (for example, L0055).
7.Ignore the U and L, and write down all eight digits.

The only other thing I can think of is contact your local Acura tech, perhaps they know of a system trick to display the serial #. Last resort would be to pull the radio head unit and get the serial number off the unit chassis.

Gentlemen, thank you for your suggestions thus far however I've had no success. Will have to trust the dealer to assist.

I will try to respond with the reason my unit is stuck in Diagnostic mode.

My dealership wanted 100 dollars labor charge to pull the radio out and get the code. DO they really need to pull out the radio?

I'm embarrassed posting this however on Saturday I found myself in need of the Navi code and decided to search with the string "serial" on this forum. Several returns with some great info however one post in particular prompted a search under the hood of my car. Low and behold, both the NAVI and RADIO codes were there, under the engine compartment fuse box lid.

Cheers to that individual and perhaps it should be added to the sticky thread in the general section?
