radio difference by year?
what are the differences in the stereo setup on different years
i saw on one of the pictures there was an actual fan control buttons added to heater controls and the stereo face looks to be slightly darker
does that stereo have any added features also?
mine is an 05

The climate control is separate from the head unit. The MMC face plate added fan speed and mode change but had to delete "sync" I believe. You can pickup an '09+ climate control face plate and swap it without issue. https://acurazine.com/forums/second-...-08-rl-915601/
As for the stereo, the only major difference from 2005-2008 was the addition of the AUX input into the '07+ Tech models. I can't recall any other changes. In 2009, the NAV harness changed, but I am unsure if that affected the head unit or not.

09+ streams bluetooth, but I'm not sure if it's just hardware or software as well. Be prepared for the possibility that it may not work at all. As for the RLX module, probably won't fit.

I ordered them anyway
got them both for 145 shipped for 09 radio and 09 BT module
anyone has acess to pinout for the radio and nav unit and BT module for 05 and 09 years ?
I'm willing to try to figure out if I can make it work
I'm a 10+ years car audio installer so I do have some experience in this( just not much time to work on my own cars lol)

I think it might be in the service manuals? I don't have my laptop handy so I can't double check but the service manual is in the stickies. Hope you can make it work!! I would personally love an OE type solution.

there seems to be that Honda fit USB adapter so once( if the 09 radio works) I will get the usb kit and try to integrate that too
the advantage of grom unit though Is that it plays flac files. the irony is that its converted to and from digital so many times that the FLAC quality is irrelevant by the time it gets to speaker...
if it was a true digital only path from the usb adapter to the output of the factory amp then it would be worth to have flac... but its mostly for convenience
I found the 05-08 service manual online.. just don't have acess to 09-12 year service manual... if you can share it with me that would be awesome.. I hope that 09 radio and bt module comes with pigtails so I can easily compare where the wires are.
unless of course someone can also snap a picture of 09 radio plugs and nav plugs so I can visually check maybe its as easy as swapping a wire or adding one..
the dude who installed one ad had glitches seems like is a communication error. because the screen is just a screen it only shows video
so I'm hoping that maybe his unit was damaged otherwise I would have to upgrade the nav reader too for the 09 unit

The extra wires almost certainly go between the two units. I have not seen a wiring diagram for 2009+ yet. We only have 2008 here.

2009-2012 RL Radio on older RL?
Hi Guy, have any one of you try it? install a 2009-2012 RL radio on a 2005-2008 RL? are the wires and plugs still the same or did they change?
I Have a 2007 Honda Legend, and I want to buy a 2009-2012 Acura RL radio and replace it with the one I currently have. do you think it will work? I'll stay with the navigation DVD, will Acura RL Radio work with the Honda Legend?
What are the new options the new ones have over the older one?
Like the one I have, have no audio In/Aux, Bluetooth etc. etc. I'm only stuck with CD, DVD Music.
Thanks,
Aruman.

the stereo plugs in and works
the top information display is scrambled for the radio information. unless you get the 2009-up top display
navigation unit is also diferent but you might be ok without it
cheaper solution would be to buy an aftermarket usb adapter like Grom or ebay

Does anyone on here know if a head unit from an 07 -08 will work on an 06 rl? I know they have aux on the 07 and I was trying to get it aux on my 06 without getting the USA spec device. Thanks in advance

i can only speak fro grom( i think mine is defective and doesnt sort all the music) cant say about others.
theres few posts about them here somewhere though
as far as stereos fitting
look above at my scribble
any 05-08 stereo unit should fit and work with the top display prior to 2009
in 2009 the top display part number changed

Will a 2009+ radio plug into a 2006-era RL like mine?
How bad is the top display when there's a mismatch between the 2009+ radio and the pre-2009 display? And by top display, are you referring to the little hooded display with the clock rather than the NAV screen? If so, does the top show the clock, CD count? Is it only the radio info that is scrambled? What goes awry?
Does the phone bluetooth still function?
I'm looking to replace my broken CD player with anything post-2005 that will fit, rather than adding USB function.

its a plug and play for the most part but you will need the top display and USB module usb cable and will have to wire up teh usb module to the indash since theres no plug for usb module on 06

Burning Brakes
Thanks.
Any idea if the 2005 radio, labeled 4XL0 on the front plays WMA and MP3 on burned CDs? The faceplate on that model does not show WMA or MP3, and if the player portion is anything like my 2006 Odyssey, it doesn't play MP3/WMA. But wait: I asked that question four years ago, and got an answer: https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-rl-a...0-4xl2-900243/
In that case, I'm wondering if the 4XL7 radio is compatible with the 4XL2, and what the differences are.

I'm going to try again with a 4XL2 unit. Meantime I use one of those FM-Bluetooth converters to listen to USB music. I can see why fewer and fewer cars offer CD players these days -- no moving parts to break!
