i've searched and I know it wasnt an option till 06, but will it work on an 05? I'd assume the nav ecu is the same on 05/06.. if so it SHOULD work, but does anyone know for sure?

I'd just like to use the OEM kit if possible.

 

There are a couple of threads posted with the aftermarket install in an 05.

 

get 06+ navi drive and you can have that option

 

I agreed 100% with Psheu. Consider a 06 or 07 model and call it a day.

The 05 RL is not compatible with the OEM backup camera. there was a thread here several years back where the member "Qatar" tried to have the OEM camera installed in his 05 RL with no success. The ultimate word from Acura's tech people was that the 05 RL lacked the hardware/harness that senses when the car is put in reverse, which activates the camera, and it couldn't be retrofitted.

You need an 06 or above with Navi for the OEM back-up camera to work.
