Thumbs down No Luck with Copied 4.81A Discs

So a friend has a few DVD crack copy programs, and successfully made copies of the 4.81A Canada and "US and Southern Canada" originals I got from a friend with an 05 RL. All of the hidden files, etc are on the copies so we thought it should be good to go.

I took out my ancient 4.31C disc from my 06, and put in one of the copied discs, and it successfully went through a software updating sequence "Do not turn engine off", etc for about 7 or 8 minutes, rebooted, displaying the usual acura navigation "earth from space" screen, and for a split second showed the welcome screen to push the knob for "OK" and then immediately said something like "disc error please see your dealer".

So I tried the other copied disc (since there are two discs in the Canadian sets), this time it even briefly said "vehicle is outside the map coverage area" (suggesting this was the US disc) before going once again to the "disc error please see your dealer" message.

It works like a charm when I try the original 4.81A discs the copies were made from, and of course now it won't work with the original 4.31C disc I had with an error that basically says the disc software is older than the version you are using

I found this - anyone know if this works to let me go back to my old 4.31C disc?
When you put in your old disk and come up to the "Error" screen do the following :

1) Hold down MAP/GUIDE, MENU and CANCEL at the same time
2) This brings up a Menu
3) From the Menu, select "Version"
4) Then select "Download"
5) This will download the old disc into your system.

Work in 2005 RL?

Hello, I am wondering if this would work in a 2005 RL?

I was helping a friend out and tried to see if their navi disc was scratched or if it was their unit that was damaged. I put their newer DVD into my RL and it upgraded itself. Now my own DVD will not work. Do you think this will work?

I have never tried it, but that is what you are supposed to do to go back to older firmware. Of course, you could also purchase 4.92 from acuranavi.com

Presumably there will be a new release in October or November, although I wonder now that they are at 4.92. I doubt they would rev beyond version 4.

Yes, do what BluNosr2 said above with your OLD disc in the drive and you can go back to old firmware.

Whatever was the latest version on Acura website a month ago. The guy said he is a provider for dealers and stuff....seemed legit and the DVD works so far *knock on the wood*
