Need help adding Subs to my RL.

So i have 2 12" Alpine Type R subs that are just sitting in my house doing nothing and i'm thinking about puttin 1 of them in my car. Has anyone added subs to their RL yet to see how it sounds. The type R's are 500 RMS and the amp i have are 400 rms. So i am curious if it would be a bad idea to add such powerful subs to the RL without changing the interior speakers and will the factory amp still be able to work with the after market sub.
Thanks in advance!!!

Just beware that the ANC WILL be messed up. In the end, you will have to disable it by disconnecting one of the microphones.

Search and there are some threads on this, and even how to disable the microphone if you want to go through with it.

i know how to disable the ANC. I am more worried about the sound quality of the music once i put those subs in my car. The music sounds fine now but once i put those type R's in will it be the same or a little more enhanced.

I did something similar. Instead is using the stock amplifier to power the subs I used an aftermarket amp with an inline converter. Had to turn the gain on the amp way down so it didnt drown out the highs. If you hook the line converter up to the stock sub lines you can get more control through your factory bass level controls. I did have to reach up in the headliner through the dome light and disconnect the rear mic. It was amplifying the noise cancellation system. Basically resulted in mad crazy bass at start up and idle.

i installed a line output converter to my factory sub line then ran 4 gauge amp wires and added a mono block jl amp and 12" jl w6 and its sounds real good. the factory system is really good just lacks bass so the jl system more then handles the task.
