3rd Party Backup Camera on 06 RL

I was looking into getting a backup camera that is a part of the license plate holder, like the BRAVO PC-3 1/3" Color CCD Back Up Camera on newegg. I was wondering...

1. if that is possible to hook that up to the RL nav system and have the same function as the acura rear view camera, ie, when shift in reverse, the backup camera is activated.

2. how hard would it be to install the camera, like inside wiring? drilling holes? etc.

Thanks

It may have been done before...search

Here is what I came up with using the following expression typed into google.
You can vary tl or rl and the search terms that occur after acurazine.com. I have bolded these two variable areas.

site://tl.acurazine.com backup camera Dominic nav2go converter

if you have the 06 RL, just get the 06 camera kit + the '07 license plate trim.... fortunately, you got the '06 navi unit ('05 navi unit won't even be able to hook up the camera to it)... however, I don't think our navi system like aftermarket parts too well.... otherwise, i'll like to try integrating aftermarket parking sensor to the navi as well..... the 07 camera is not a kit, so the wiring is gonna be a bit of a pain.... I've compared the 2 schematic and it seems that of the same 6 wires, the order were different.... the 06 camera is a complete kit with adapters etc. so it's a pretty straight forward plug and play.... depends on what your preferences are, you can either mount the camera in the center ('06 style) or u can mount it to the side ('07 style, cleaner, flush look).... I've just completed this mod yesterday.... hardest part is measure/cut the opening (gotta be careful, expansive trunk lid, all aluminum, easy to cut, easy to mess up, use marker first, than small drill, bigger drill, cutter, grinder) and run the wire through the trunk pipe...... other than that, it's pretty straight forward

I thought maybe I found an easy way to install a backup camera, but it looks like it will be a complicated one. Oh well, thanks for the info, everyone.

Just curious: does the 06 camera have the usual 2 connectors: RCA & power? Or is it setup with its own harness that goes straight to the drive? I'm wondering if it would work to be connected to the Dom's unit.

prob. not.... the camera harness have 6 color coded wires total.... they are meant to plug behind the navigation dvd drive.... if you have the 06+ navi drive, the camera will work regardless.....
