Are you sure you're in an area that has traffic coverage?

There are only about 20 something areas in the US that have XM traffic information avaialble. Are you in one of them?

Not sure if the TRAFFIC icon goes away if you don't renew your subscription. Have you been to the cities listed on the XM site? Also, even in the covered cities, the roads covered varies. In Chicago, you only get the traffic speeds for the major expressways and incidents for some of the secondary roads. Also, you need to make sure you're zoomed out/in so that the arrow is within the TRAFFIC icon.

Traffic bar question

You also have to have the traffic icon selected.
FYI
Push the jog dial in to select icons on/off. Make sure the Traffic icon is shaded On.

There are 31 areas (with incidents) in total. 21 have flow data (Portland, OR; Denver; Dallas; San Antonio; Orlando; Miami; Baltimore; St. Louis; Cincinnati; and Cleveland lack flow data).

Chris, may be a faulty XM unit. I had to have mine replaced because NAVtraffic bar never showed up. There was a faulty production of these units back in Nov 2005 for the 06 RL's. Just go to a dealer, have them turn on a RL and compare. If their RL shows and yours doesnt, then its a problem. Remember to leave the car on for ~15-20 mins to get updates, so you can compare. Hope this helps.
