NAV Traffic not showing up?

I was getting it all fine and now only get incidents. I don't see traffic speeds after 3 days of ownership.

To get more specific, I was in Houston where I bought my car and enjoyed seeing traffic speeds for the freeways. Last night, I drove up to Dallas and am not seeing traffic speeds here, but I do see incidents.
If I scroll back down to Houston and look at the freeways down there, I also do not see traffic speeds there either.

Any ideas?

Dallas traffic info

Dallas freeway system does not provide traffic speed data so XM cannot broadcast it.
What you'll find in your travels is that in some cities traffic speed is available and some cities it is not. Some freeways are covered and some are not.
Many times this has nothing to do with XM and is dependant on the infrastructure of the city to provide the data.
Hope this helps.

If you can at least see incidents then traffic is working.

There was a flow data outage in Atlanta about a month ago (ironically right after an oil change - thought something happened with my car). XM was fundamentally useless but full service was restored after a day or two.

Regarding XM NavTraffic, here is the site with all cities listed:

http://www.xmradio.com/xmnavtraffic/market_coverage.jsp

You'll see that Dallas does not have flow data.

Great info guys!
Thanks. I can't believe DFW doesn't have flow data.

So you have to be in the city to see the flow data? I ask because if I scroll back down to Houston it doesn't show there either, and it's supposed to. When I was in Houston it worked.

The losing the data coincided with a call to XM asking to block certain categories, so I thought that may have been the problem.

The morons at XM can't help at all. I told them I'm in Dallas, and I spoke to 5 reps today! Not one of those idiots knew their own product enough to just say, "In Dallas, you will not see flow data." That would have saved me a lot of hold time! Idiots...

Thanks to this forum for the help. What would we do w/o the internet? We'd have to rely on the brain donors at XM to help us. They even connected me to the Nav/Weather dept. of XM. The lady said, "I don't know why they send people over here. We just monitor, we can't help with service."

Scott, due to my location, the only Nav-Traffic data I ever see is Atlanta when I'm traveling over to Birmingham. I was in Alabama Saturday and blocking channels on my subscription didn't affect the Atlanta traffic data to my car. You might search the posts on Nav-Traffic...the satellite coverage varies with location...for instance, when I'm in Shreveport, Louisiana, I don't get Dallas or Houston...and Dallas is a mere 2 hours away and Houston isn't that far.

I'm still a long ways from Atlanta when I'm crossing that Alabama/Mississippi unprotected border and begin receiving the data for Atlanta! Go figure.

Weird, from the XM site, it does cover Dallas/Fort worth area. If you still don't get the traffic bar, go to your Acura dealer. I had the same issue with my new car and they replaced the XM unit and it has been working fine ever since.

No. I made that mistake too, but as pointed out, DFW doesn't have flow data, only incident/accident/construction data.

When I got back to Houston, it was all working again. The timing with also turning off certain categories was just a coincidence.
