Navigation System Update 4.13B DVD

Has anyone else received the new updated Navigation System Update 4.13 DVD and installed it? It replaces the nav DVD in the trunk that came with the RL. I ask because I'm told the recent dealer updates to the car's systems caused some further problems (doors relocking, rearview mirrors that didn't return upright, etc.) and before I installed this new navigation DVD, I want to be sure it doesn't also cause new woes.

I've put off the dealer updates until the kinks are worked out and I may do the same with this DVD if similar glitches affect the nav system. Everything on my RL works perfectly and I'm just trying to keep it that way.

Thanks for any info.

I just received mine, and installed it. It seems to work perfectly. I am like you though, I will not return my old DVD until the new one is "burned-in".

Is is v 4.13 or 4.13B ?
Did you order it or did it just come from Acura ?
Any explanation ?

Thanks.

I've installed mine today, and have returned the old dvd already. Followed the instructions they included with no problems. The only thing unusual was the nav/traffic wasn't working the first 15 mins or so and was OK later. But then, it was sporadic like that before with the old dvd.

I received my update today. I have not installed.

Visit dealer tomorrow for the random door locking and XM "loading" problems.

Will post my results, (if there are any)

Obviously, RL owners are among Acura's selective members. Right move. They should mail that to every owner.

I currently have 4.13A (US) and have not received anything from Acura. Does anyone know if 4.13B is being mailed to U.S. owners or are the ones being received for Canadian owners? Has anyone contacted Acura CS to inquire further about the update and who gets it and who does not?

I received the update yesterday, located in Connecticut. I performed the navigation update this morning. As far as I can tell there have been no weird issues since the install. I will be holding onto my old disc a few weeks to make sure.

Out of curiosity, I contacted Acura CS to see if they could provide further information on who is eligble for this update. The person that I spoke to said 'Acura' sent out the updates to certain owners to fix certain issues. When I asked what 'issues' they corrected, I was told that CS did not know. It seemed that the person I was speaking with was really bothered by me asking, especially when I did not accept the response and asked for further follow-up. It appears that only 'Engineering' knows who to, and why the disks were sent. Hopefully, I can get some straight answers in the next few days.

I received mine yesterday (Monday) in the mail and am in Seattle. Received from Acura in CA (Torrance maybe) I believe. I have had no issues to resolve (other than navtraffic being undependable but that's another issue) so I don't expect to notice any differences when I install. Purchased the RL in October in first shipment. Don't know if I received because of my early purchase or for another reason.

Installed mine today. Previous disk was 4.12. Like most here, I didn't see any repeatable problems before so I doubt I'll see much difference. It would be interesting to know just what got "fixed".

The disc the new one replaced was version 4.11 so I wonder if I received any mapping updates as well.

The new v4.13B is *not* an update for the mapping and routing. It's supposed to fix software bugs that exist with previous versions.

While the new DVD is not intended as an update to the maps and info (just a software rework), I may have gotten some road updates nonetheless. I say that because the old DVD I took out of my RL's trunk (and returned in the prepaid mailer to Acura) was labelled as version 4.09. (I took delivery back on October 15th, 2004.) All's well with the new 4.13 B disc so far. And the car is still performing perfectly. Not one problem found with any of the devices/convenience items on the vehicle.

I can honestly say that is the best performance ever for any car I've owned.

Exclamation

When you go to Setup menu, there is something like System Information down there. It shows software version AND database version.

With DVD 4.12 I had
Database Version 20040921
Software Version 1.05.00

With DVD 4.13B I got
Database Version 20041210
Software Version 1.10.00

Although the mail I got with DVD says exactly that "The new v4.13B is *not* an update for the mapping and routing. It's supposed to fix software bugs that exist with previous versions." I DON'T BELIEVE IT!

Database is definitely THE MAP and 20041210 very much looks like YYYYMMDD to me. I do believe that we get a newer map.

The reason they don't tell us about it could be to save their profits when they ask us to BUY map updates on www.acuranavi.com

Also I know that all new RLs on the dealer's parking lot have the same DVD 4.13B
Do you think they put obsolete map in there, eh?

XM display delay fixed by DVD

i'm not sure if its the new software that came with the Nav DVD, or the act of restarting the nav system by changing out DVDs, but after i put the new DVD in the system, the XM display delay problem (which manifested after my XM unit was replaced to fix the NavTraffic issue) went away!!

Just got mine today and installed it today. I will see what happens. My RL has been flawless except possible XM antenna issue which I will have the dealer look at when I get my oil changed, so I am not sure what the DVD is supposed to fix.

Found new updates are available, anyone done it?

Has anyone updated their nav system map lately? I heard from friends with other types of cars that it was worth it, but haven't done it yet myself. I found out about this site www.updateyourmap.com on a blog.

Welcome Mark! Which car do you own? Navteq has a sale on the new nav/update discs for $149. That price is good until the end of June.

It is worth it IMO. I have had plenty of vehicles with nav and have updated them every other yr. They have all been infinitis though and on the forum you can usually find a member that bought the update and will send you a copy of the disks and instructions for $20.00... still trying to see if anyone here does that. I would if I knew exactly how to do it.

Well, I just bought the new 4.83a version, and it finally has a map area update I actually wanted. If anyone wants to buy 4.73, just let me know.
