For what's it worth, I was experiencing the same symptoms with my nav unit. I sent it to Alpine, they turned it around very quickly, and it works great now!

Any idea which years can be swapped into a 2005? On ebay, some people are selling 2006 units as 2005/2006. But I haven't seen anyone claim that 2007 or 2008 units can be swapped in.

I think it will go through 2008. 2009 came with different features.
I had the best warranty which came from an accident.
The player was damaged and with life time accident repairs from the autobody shop, the coverage included NAVI.
I had it replaced twice. Poor Alpine technology. A decision Aucura regrets I'm sure.
