Navigation Screen Color Day/Night
Has anyone encountered the problem of the nav screen not changing colors when the head lights go on.....day/night thing....my 05 RL used to do it however it stopped all of a sudden. I can change the colors if I do it by hitting the day/night switch. When the nav system comes up the color is always the "day" color no matter the status of the headlights. I keep my headlights on auto..

Are your headlights on AUTO or do you turn them on manually? If the AUTO headlights turn on because the light sensor dictates, the NAVI screen should switch also. I notice this when I pull into a parking garage. The darkness triggers the headlights on AND Navi switches to night view.
However, on a cloudy day where I choose to manually switch the headlights on (the sensor does not deem it necessary) the Navi stays in day view. I think it is ties into the GPS clock when the AUTO light sensor does not dictate as to whether it is day or night and selects the appropriate view.

Thanks...that was the problem. Turns out there is a glare reduction function which dims the illumination of the instrument panel when you turn the lights on. When you set the brigtness to the max and then hit the + button again it cancels the function which also disables the automatic day/night color.
You saved me from going crazy trying to figure out what was going on.
Thanks...

Yup me too. I just bought a 2008 RL and I was wondering what's the point of the day/night feature if I had to turn it on and off. I also was messing with the brightness buttons. Will fix that today.
